I currently have an ASUS VG248QE with G-Sync kit installed and I'm ready to upgrade to a monitor with (hopefully) better color out of the box.
That said, I haven't seen a lot of reviews for the XL2420G (I guess tftcentral hasn't done one yet?) so I'm not really sure if and or how much better it is. One thing I'm wondering is this -- can I calibrate this monitor with G-Sync enabled? I know that with the VG248QE I lost the ability to use the monitor's OSD after I installed the G-Sync kit, and I don't really like software calibration because it has some issues.
Also, I recently found out about the Acer XB270HU. First, why isn't it in the list of "upcoming G-Sync displays"? And second, is it worth waiting for? I probably won't be gaming at that high of a resolution (I'll be using 1920 x 1080), so would it be detrimental to my experience to play in a lower resolution than the native resolution of the monitor?
Should I get the BenQ XL2420G or wait for the Acer XB270HU?

Wait the couple months for the Acer XB270HU, I'm in the exact same place as you, however I have used software to calibrate my VG248QE Gsync monitor very effectively. The XB270HU is basically the monitor we've always dreamed of.

Wait for PROFESSIONAL REVIEWS of the Acer, not just for the monitor itself. There is a little more to it than just the declared tech specs

So I got the XL2420G and I really like it so far, except that the capacitive power button is very unreliable and often takes several attempts before it responds. Is this normal? The other capacitive OSD buttons work fine.

Yeah, I hope that the Chief gets on this Acer 144hz IPS. If it's worth buying, they'll have my money.
27" is perfect, 1440p is perfect for a single card setup, IPS is obviously better than my TN, and as long as the GSync comes with ULMB, then I'm sold.

Personally I'm waiting for a couple Swift competitors to emerge, as the current price point is still nutty. I've been eyeing the release of the XB270HU, but as others have said it would be best to let the pros around here test it before buying. I'm really hoping for additional announcements other than the Swift and XB270HU...more competition is always good.

I am waiting for the Acer XB270HU, but I REALLY want to get a curved 21:9 monitor(@1440p). Which monitors (if any) should I be looking at? I have seen "spec sheets" for a few different upcoming 21:9s... which of any are going to be good for gaming? My IDEAL budget would be $650-800, but if I have to spend a little more to get a GREAT monitor, I am willing to do that.
*Edit* I forgot to add to my original post, the question, are there any 21:9 monitors with G-Sync already?
Additional question: Is a single GTX970 enough to run a 21:9 1440p display, or would I need to get a second 970 in SLI?

There are no 21:9 Gsync monitors out. The first should be the Acer XR341CK. That's a 34" 144hz (probably an 8-bit TN) and curved 3440x1440 21:9.
I'm going to wait for that monitor to come out before I buy anything other than my VG248QE.
Likely wont be $800 though. I'm thinking more like $1200-1500.
