BenQ XL2420Z V1 unusable?

Post by freakenstein » 23 Feb 2015, 15:08

Hello! This is my first post here , bare with me. I would like to know from anyone who currently own or owned a V1 XL2420Z , if it's "unusable" or not? I'm not a fussy type , I'm currently using a 60hz 18.5'' Dell monitor , so IF I've gotten a V1 monitor , if there's no major issues with it , I might just let it be. So far after much researching , theres still no telling on when is the manufactured date stated , on the box or something.

I'm just afraid of spending that much cash on a monitor (slightly overpriced here) that is "faulty" and here locally I doubt it'll be exchangeable because BenQ themselves stated it's "usable" with the V1 firmware.

Thank you very much in advance! :)

One question - do you want to use blur reduction (strobing) or not? If not, then there's really nothing wrong with it as the "issue" it has shows up once you enable blur reduction, then you'll see something like this: http://www.blurbusters.com/wp-content/u ... pdated.jpg

Is this "unusable"? Well... I've got the v2 (luckily), but I've checked it out before making the necessary adjustments and personally, I wouldn't want to have this problem on my screen, but again - as much as it may make blur reduction "less nice", it won't make the whole monitor without blur reduction unusable.

BTW, at this point, if you order it from Amazon, you should get V2 and reg. the manufactured date, I'm pretty sure there was such date on my box.

Thank you for the reply. To be honest, I don't really know if I'll be using it or not , but if it bring benefits , who wouldn't want to use it , right? Though as I've said in my previous post , I'm not really fussy , as long as it is not malfunctioning or spoil or something. On a side note , I don't think they should be anymore V1 monitors laying around after almost a year right? Unfortunately , I don't live in the US , ordering from Amazon would be a pain in the butt. Is there a manufacturing date on the box?! That's like a great news , may I know how does it look like? Thanks a lot! :)

I use it only for gaming. Whenever I work (most of any weekday), given that my work involves a lot of text typing, there's really no benefit for me there, until I play a game - that's where blur reduction will make you wonder how you could have possibly ever played on an LCD without it :)

Yeah well... I wouldn't be so sure. I mean, I'm also not from the US and in my country I've contacted over 5 different online stores with this question, one said they have no idea, but the rest said they're definitely V1... and tried to explain how that's not a big deal at all etc. I then ordered from German Amazon as there was some flash sale and luckily got a new one.

I'm attaching a photo of the sticker on the side of the box. As you see, it says: "Mfg. Date: June 2014" on mine. Given that the new FW was announced on March 2014 (I think), anything after that should have the new FW.
