I've read Mark's article on G-Sync and how you don't want your FPS bouncing off the monitors max refresh rate as that seems to add V-Sync ON type input lag.
Mark tested 120 FPS cap on a 144 Hz monitor and that seemed to alleviate all of the lag. Has anyone tested with a bit closer "buffer? Would a 143 FPS limit on a 144 Hz G-Sync monitor accomplish the same thing? Curious as to how "large" sub-max Hz FPS buffer needs to be in order to not run into the G-Sync cap lag.
G-Sync input lag -1 FPS?
Re: G-Sync input lag -1 FPS?
I set my cap to 135 and it feels a lot more responsive. I never actually ran any tests though. You might be able to go higher without the effect.
Re: G-Sync input lag -1 FPS?
i think that in principle, if you have a completely stable 143fps then it's okay, but in practice, the boundary is blurred due to frametime instability and so probably you'd need something in the 130s
which game/capping method are you interested in?

Re: G-Sync input lag -1 FPS?
I run CS:GO at 140fps completely stable on one core with no problems but other games like Gmod stutters on Gsync with any fps besides 100. I think it might have to do with frame pacing not behaving correctly and frames not arriving on time when they should.
It's going to be completely up to what game engine and how well their frame pacing is.

Re: G-Sync input lag -1 FPS?
I wouldnt worry about the added input lag of gsync unless you are playing shooters like CS:GO. In CS:GO I clicked on the game in my steam library, then went to launch properties and set it to +fps_max 120 , this does the same thing as typing fps_max 120 into the console command but by adding the + and putting it in the launch command it applys the command at the launch of the game so that you dont have to type it in each game. I was considering trying maybe +fps_max 130 or +fps_max 140 but ive been doing really well at 120 so i havnt wanted to change it.
