I am just posting this to make sure my topic is true and no one has any complains, this is what I did:
1.Use my gtx 670 with a dvi to vga adapter with the benq as only monitor connected
2,The master trick: Rename the benq firmware .rar to the name of the .bin which is actually inside
3. Start patching my screen with the .rar instead of the .bin inside
4 .Wait and realize the screen is dead after it turned off and didn't react to the power button in any way ever again.
Later own I tried to redo everything, this time with a pure vga connection and a laptop, but all I got when checking the bus was either numbers missings(most of the time none showing at all) or in case of the XXXXX fields none or only 10% of the entries that were originally there. Although it sometimes shows different values after running the command line again and again. Any attempt to write is blocked by flashrom "can't acess 0:49" or something. Pretty sure what I did killed the screen for good.

You renamed the unpacked RAR file to a bin file (that was actually the rar) and flashed that?
Did you try querying bus 0 on the laptop?
Someone said on the desktop through DVI, the benq appeared on bus 4 instead of 0.
But they did not use a DVI to VGA adapter, they just used DVI and I think a separate connector (IGPU maybe).

That's what I did. I am not exactly sure what you mean. During the flash I used my my pc and bus 2 which showed the benq. Now on my laptop it's bus1, but as I said it will most of the time only show XXX although sometimessome snippets of what was originally shown before the faulty flash appear. It's like my screen is mentally retarded and only sometimes for a split second snaps back and remebers its old firmware.
From what I understood you extract the firmware of your benq, merge it with the patch and rewrite it, so maybe if I had the files I could force write it on the screen, but actually that wouldn't seen to work because it won't start a writing operation as mentioned in the op.

You may have to send it in, although I have no idea if they will flash the firmware for you or not.
Someone flashed a 2 MB 0-byted file (with only FF's (hex) in the file) because they forgot to merge the 0 byted file with the 800k firmware file to make the firmware file 2 MB (with 1.2 mb of empty bytes) and they were able to recover it.
But flashing a renamed .rar file probably scrambled stuff beyond repair
Just hope benq will flash it for you.

I opened a ticket, let's see what the support's response is.
