btw I flashed my backup from v4 to v2 then BACK to v4 by using the DVI port on my R9 290x. Flashing the backup is safe.

Alright, I will do it then. Btw, in that factory manu, it says PASS instead of VALID like you suggested. Are they the same or does PASS mean something else?

Starting flashing the backup in a minute. Fingers crossed. Btw, should take a backup of this firmware as well? Not sure if it is useful though.
Sorry I meant "Pass" But I think your edid is corrupt somehow.
I keep getting mixed up with TestUFO blur busters' site which says "valid" :/
I didn't have a problem at all going from V2 to V4 and back to V2 then back to V4. never had to install any driver except the original CD driver (which was installed a year ago), and didn't need to reinstall it.

So, is there anything you suggest I should do, after the Flashrom > Done comment? I keep my monitor off during the process and before, I didn't even turn it on in that laptop. I just shut the laptop down, unplugged my monitor and plugged it here.

Is there anything you want me to do, to sort of finalize the flashing?

Btw, something is definitely wrong. When I boot up Ubuntu, there is no signal on my benQ monitor. I tested it on windows on my laptop as well, before booting Ubuntu, and it was the same way as my pc.

Starting the flashing process in a minute.

edit: Started flashing. Will post when it's done. Something that might be worth noting:
when I typed the comment: sudo ./flashrom -p mstarddc_spi:dev=/dev/i2c-6:49 (yes, mine is on bus 6)
the benQ screen flashed for a second, the purple BenQ logo popped up, and then it went back to no signal.

edit2: Since there was no picture, I forgot to turn off the monitor. Now, it's flashing in stand-by mode. Shouldn't cause any problems though. Hopefully.

Just something that crossed my mind: I have downloaded whitestar's V4 backup .bin, was it specifically for XL2411Z or does that matter? Could catastrope have problems with using XL2411Z V4 firmware on a XL2420Z?

I'm just curious.

Its for xl2411z ONLY. The hardware in xl2411z and xl2420z is different. Trying to flash a 2420z firmware into a xl2411z will display a picture but the buttons on the OSD won't work (it can still be reflashed back).

That's why I asked. I have an XL2411Z but I noticed in catastropes screenshots that his monitor is a XL2420Z and only V4 I've personally stumbled upon was the whitestar one.

I downloaded from the first post of this topic and then resized it to 2048kb. Also, there is another person who updated the firmware on the same monitor and our firmware page looks identical.

Verifying flash atm. Is there anything you want me to do after this is done?

Alright, done with flashing. I'm on this screen at the moment, is there anything you want me to do before I switch back to windows?

There is still no signal on the BenQ monitor btw, I didn't touch a thing yet.

Power it on, turn off the burn in mode, unplug it, wait 30 seconds, power it back on and boot to windows. Should be restored since its back on V2.

how do I turn off the burn in mode? It is back to v3 btw, not v2 :)

edit: I've tried a bunch of button combinations but nothing happens. Still no signal by the way.

edit2: seriously, no matter what combination I press while turning it back on, it still goes to No Signal and goes to sleep after a little while. Is something wrong?
