Sharpness defaults to 5 and 5 is the correct setting.
There is no such thing as sharpness 12 on a Benq monitor.

Setting sharpness lower than 5 causes blurry edges, sort of like a poor man's anti-aliasing with post processing, and setting sharpness higher than 5 causes edges to split into their colored components. Some have preferred 6 without letting things get too bizarre.

You can see here what happens if you change the sharpness.

Make sure "smooth edges of screen fonts" in system properties/advanced is disabled. Other than that, I really can't help you.

Test it for yourself. I don't know these things.

You can use display scaling on this monitor by creating a custom resolution in ToastyX CRU and then using that resolution you created.
Then you can use the monitor OSD scaling options instead of the video card.

GPU scaling should not add input lag on properly working video drivers. Nvidia has been known to have added unnecessary lag in the past on a bunch of their drivers. I use an AMD video card so I cannot help you here, but this issue should have been fixed awhile back.

Most resolutions with EDID overrides that are "lower" than native resolution will not work in directx 10/11/12 games. There are exceptions, however; they usually work in directx 9.

For the native resolution, you should set it to 5. This gives you a 1:1 reproduction of the source image. 5 leaves the image alone. Any value other than 5 will apply a modification to the image, meaning it's not the original image anymore.

For scaling non-native resolutions, you can raise the sharpness if you want. Which is the only use this has, really.
