G-Sync menu question [SLI]

Post by Nealb90 » 26 Jan 2014, 17:17

I received my G-Sync DIY kit yesterday and successfully installed it. I immediately went into the nvidia control panel and enabled G-Sync and changed the vsync option in global settings to G-Sync. However, I played some games and I didn't notice a difference at all. So naturally I got the manual and looked at the OSD menu picture at the end and it depicts the "mode" option is set to Gsync. When I hit the menu button on my monitor my mode setting is "normal". This is making me think that regardless of the G-Sync option being enabled in the nvidia control panel it is not actually working. Has anybody come across this problem at all? I have the latest drivers, windows 7 64 bit and 2 gtx titans in SLI. I've messed around with the settings a bit and no matter what I do the "mode" is always set to "normal". Thanks for any information anybody can provide!

Try to disable SLI. Also, make sure you are running games in fullscreen, not borderless windowed mode, or whatever.

I always play games in full screen so that's not the issue but I'll try disabling SLI and post back if something changes.

Disabling SLI did nothing. I also disabled my second GPU through the device manager and that did nothing. Can somebody confirm that it is, in fact, supposed to be labeled "mode Nvidia GSYNC" or does everybody's say "mode Normal"

In full-screen games it's supposed to say G-Sync mode. Another way of telling is by trying the ULMB button (to the left of the power button), and see if that says it can't enable it due to being in G-Sync mode.

How many games have you tried?

Bioshock Infinite, Alice, Outlast, Metro LL but I'm also checking to see if it's in Gsync Mode when I'm just on the desktop and not in an actual application. Don't know if that makes a difference. Also I've pressed the ULMB button and I didn't get any message but it made my screen brighter.

You are in the same boat I am, as far as SLI. Are you enjoying it even though you are using just one Titan?

I still have the Kit in front of me, nervous for the results.

I Am using SLI actually! Gsync is currently working with my 2 titans. Right now I'm playing Alice Madness returns and from what I've noticed the FPS is fluctuating quite a bit but it is eliminating stutter and creating smooth gameplay. So if you're worried about SLI I can confirm that my 2 Titans are working with G-SYNC

Are you getting similar frame rates to what you used to get with SLI?
