Haven't seen posts about these but they're claimed to be arriving in February.

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/press/2017/223107

Both are 240hz TN 1080p GSYNC and ULMB enabled at up to 200hz according to the press release. The similar spec'd Asus PG258Q 240hz monitor coming this month is limited to 144hz ULMB.

That's pretty weird that Asus wouldn't have 200hz ULMB since it's pretty much the same monitor :?:

Could be only the VA panel does 240hz, as they're all lumped together at the end. Will have to wait for more details / review.

Well I did order an XB252Q which is arriving tomorrow. I'll try to post my thoughts this weekend.

Fantastic, let me know how the monitor plays out --

If your room is cold in the winter, make sure you warm up your monitor for at least 30 minutes (VA panel ghosts a huge amount more when cold, if it was turned off overnight and becomes cold).

Special Request:
If you have time -- and if you have a SLR camera with a fast-shutter (1/240th sec or faster), I'd love to see a static-photo of ULMB at each refresh rate for TestUFO Alien Invasion (Full Screen). Then after that, take three snaps of each ULMB refresh rate (85, 100, 120, 144, 200?) and post the clearest-snap of each refresh rate. This will help determine how much strobe-crosstalk (double image effect) they were able to hide. It will probably be rather intense at the top/bottom edges for 200Hz, that should be normal -- but hopefully ULMB is very clear at the image center. It's normal for more ULMB artifacts to begin appearing at higher refresh rates since LCD response starts to affect viability of a strobe backlight. NVIDIA usually does a really good job with ULMB, they're the inventor of LightBoost.

I'll give that a shot. Will see if my camera is good enough, if not I should be able to secure a higher end one next week.

This should be a TN panel instead of VA.

Just got it - Early thoughts:

Can't get ULMB running, its grayed out even at 120hz. Tried G-sync enabled / disabled.
Not any special details in the included documentation. Any suggestions?

There are no noticeable pixel inversion lines like I easily noticed with the PG278Q. I am incredibly relieved.

The speakers sound really quite terrible. I had tried an Acer 34 UltraWide with great speakers so I was surprised.

Early gaming, I seem to be able to much more easily hit shots with McCree in Overwatch, where before I barely hit anything. Now I seem to barely miss. I will test more with switching between 120 / 240.

Got the ULMB options activated by unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in. ULMB seems capped at 144hz and turns off if I go to 200 or above. Buzzkill certainly and looks like the press release details may be an accident or I'm missing something.

NVIDIA is often quite conservative about refresh rates allowed by ULMB.

Understandably so, given increasing amounts of strobe crosstalks the closer refreshrate reaches panel scanrate (reduced blanking intervals are very bad for ULMB).

I wonder if this was a case of over-enthusaic marketing listening to possibility -- and then seeing NVIDIA struggle to make 200Hz ULMB perfect enough (180Hz is probably the highest you can do for relatively clean ULMB on a 240Hz TN with a panel scan cycle of ~1/240sec) -- and then maybe removed at last minute to prevent complaints about flawed 200Hz ULMB.

It's an understandable, albiet also vexing, move too. Trying to work with intractable technology limitation of a panel, etc.

If you still have this monitor, how do you find the XB252Q today after almost a month of usage?

I was looking to give it a try, but I'm scared of horrible color and contrast on the new 240hz TN panels after my recent experience with the PG258Q 240hz having awful color/contrast.
