I'm using this display for some time now. For a long time I just played at a native resolution, but after I tried out playing games like CS:GO on a 4:3 resolution (and thus 75 Hz refresh rate), I was wondering if I can get the same rate on a native 1680x1050 resolution. Sadly, this screen doesn't seem to overclock well, and above ~65 Hz the screen gets severely distorted - it even shows a warning when I try 75 Hz.
Anything else I could try, or do I just enjoy the 65 Hz?

Yea, you can try lowering the vertical total or horizontal total till it glitches out and then rasing the refreshrate.

It's a balancing act and every monitor I've found is slightly different. Idk, go nuts still it works

Oh, that was it! I changed the timing standard to the second CVT option (reduced blanking), the distortion disappeared. I'm running 74 Hz now, which doesn't seem to drop frames (if I did the test correctly). At 75 Hz the screen is still showing me this warning. Even right now with 74 Hz, the OSD menu shows "H: 80.4KHz V: 73.9Hz". What's this H value?

Horizontal freq and Vertical freq.

My guess is that the message is programmed in and no matter what you do it will still pop up

Might be worth having a quick play around with the values but very unlikely you will get anything out of it.

Edit: oh, and the test is done correctly! well done, you have successfully overclocked a monitor!

72hz or 71.928hz is better than 75hz because it's an even multiple of 24 (or 23.976). Which is the standard film cadence.

You can add both 72 and 74 in CRU.
