Hi.
I recently bought an Asus PG258 monitor, and have encountered issues when trying to set the output from my graphics card to values other than 200hz.
Gear: Asus PG258 connected with the included display port cable to a Nvidia Gforce gtx670 graphics card.
Problem 1: There is no option to set the video output to 240hz in windows nor the Nvidia control panel. I have tried adding a "custom" 240hz alternative to the list in the Nvidia control panel, but with luck (it disappears).
Problem 2: If I try to change to another frequency (60, 120, 144) in the control panel or windows (or both) the output changes back to 200hz either immediately or after changing between windows (ie. minimizing/maximizing a game or the control panel). These issues occur with gsync enabled and disabled. This means I am currently unable to activate ULMB for more than seconds at a time.
Problem 3: The built in fps-counter of the screen seems to produce nonsense numbers (far lower than the input to the screen)- I have no idea if this is somehow related to the other issues.
Stuff I've tried: Reinstalling nvidia drivers with and without "geforce experience", creating custom res/hz in nvidia control panel.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just a guess, but maybe the 670's older version of displayport 1.2 can't go that high.

Try this. Revert back to older drivers, that are at leat 6-10 months old. If it doesn't fix the problem, then disconnect pc and monitor from power completely (same with DP cable) for a few minutes, then reconnect DP cable again and power on.

Tried these to no avail Thanks for the suggestions though!mello wrote:Try this. Revert back to older drivers, that are at leat 6-10 months old. From what I can figure out over at wikipedia it seems like any 1.2 DP should support 1080p@240hzsharknice wrote:Just a guess, but maybe the 670's older version of displayport 1.2 can't go that high.

Try different DP cable.

Another note:
Setting launch options in CSGO to "-freq 144" results in a 144hz signal to the screen, enabling me to use ULMB despite not being able to change the output from 200hz in nvidia controlpanel.
Setting it to "-freq 240" does however only result in a 200hz output.

Re: Issues with display-output stuck to 200hz and no 240hz o
It is not the DisplayPort.
The dotclock on the older 670 prevents 240Hz.
Heard this several times, we often get 600 series card users unable to do 240Hz.
You could try ToastyX with reduced blanking intervals (both horiz and vertical) to try and attempt 220Hz with the Pixel Clock (dotclock) of 200Hz.
Best to spend about $200 on a cheap 3GB 1060 this Black Friday. Bonus is also a little less input lag than the 670 due to slightly higher frame rate, to boot, too.

I might be able to borrow a gtx 760 this weekend, does the dotclock of this card allow for 240hz?
