ASUS XG258Q vs BenQ ZOWIE XL2546

Post by daggertx » 05 Dec 2017, 10:08

If you have an NVIDIA card (yes I know they are not G-SYNC) which monitor provides the best motion blur free game play?

The ASUS has ELMB but I dont know much about it. Also, will the XG258Q be as highly configurable as the XL2546 using third party tools?

I am waffling between these two monitors and the Alienware AW2518H which has G-SYNC, but there if very little you can configure on it when it comes to blur reduction/cross talk.

Thanks!

Both monitors should be fairly equivalent in terms of performance (Fairly sure they use the same panel) and the major differences will be price, design, aftermarket calibration/features done by BenQ and Asus.

I was already familiar with the Asus menu (I enjoyed the native crosshair and had a good experience with a previous monitor) so I went with that however the Zowie had some things going for it that I would have liked to try! (I wonder how much of an impact the side screens have, I hear you an o/c the blur reduction even higher, etc)

Update: Oh, I feel silly! I just checked the price and realize you already know they aren't Gsync. They should be very similar and I can only speak for the PG258Q monitor however the in-menu configuration is fairly good. If they are using anything similar to ULMB then it should be perfectly fine.

This time around though, I'd be tempted to try the BenQ (because I haven't tested them yet) however the Asus is a safe bet.

Thank for the reply. I am still on the fence about which monitor to get. Also the Alienware AW2518H is on my mind....

Get it, if you can get the Dell it would probably serve you best because of G-Sync.

Just bought the XG258Q and after i did the dead pixel test i have this pixel that i can only see it on a black background, it's very small you can only see it if you are very very close to the monitor. Should i return it and ask for a replacement?

If you want me to do some tests on this monitor just ask.

It depends on the manufacturer -- their dead pixel policy varies quite a lot. None of my monitors have a dead pixel, however.

XG258Q is 150€ cheaper than XL2546, should I buy it? iOS does this monitor have any negative expect that dead pixel? Interlace pattern artifacts, frame skip, input lag, inverse ghosting, blur fonts etc problems?

First of all, good afternoon.

From his point of view based on his experience, at a technical level and taking into account both monitors in order to take him to the competitive field in fast response games (Quake, Apex, Battlefield ...), being the standard to play 240Hz to 240fps, what would you recommend, if for example you had a Radeon VII mounted on your PC? In which you have to have other priorities such as:
- Better performance
- Reduced motion blur
- Maximum fluency
- Lower latency
- Panel image quality
- Brightness / contrast / gamma quality.
- All the above points should be taken into account, both with the strobe mode activated and deactivated.

Thank you.

A cordial greeting.
