I had a UN55C7000 from a few years ago that wouldn't take even a 61hz signal without massive blurring. That and after a pixel issue was "repaired" by replacing the panel, it had major backlighting issues with spotlighting and clouding. I'm glad to see that Samsung has improved the UN product line. +100hz is amazing on a TV. I'm curious though, are the 6000 series in that line the only ones that will take 120hz input? Before the pixel issue & panel replacement, I thought the 7000 series looked absolutely fantastic in 2D. Especially Inception, the PQ was remarkable. If the UN40F6300 or the UN46F6300 took 120hz I'd consider grabbing one to use as a desk monitor. Has anyone confirmed those yet?Ahigh wrote:I have a Samsung F6300 still in the box that arrived a couple days ago. Yes 1080p120 is possible with HDMI 1.3 and above (since June 2006). It's just very few sets have supported this input rate is all. The way I look at it, it's a freaking miracle TV manufacturers are finally starting to pay attention to people on the internet who play video games that care about blur perception and latency and framerates because they could have been making displays to take in 1080p120 a LONG time ago with backlight strobes if they would just do a Google search and have a little ambition for how to make a display to push the HDMI spec a little more and think more than just frame insertion for smoother movie playback that nobody really wants anyway.
Okay, maybe that's a little opinionated, but hey!
I have not confirmed myself that the F6300 sammy will take a 120Hz signal. Maybe the other poster can point us to a page where others are talking of driving the 6300 at 120hz. I have not yet seen a samsung be driven over 60hz myself, but I love the 40" Samsung displays even at 60hz for non-gaming use (television and web browsing, image editing, programming etc). I like big gigantic pixels when I am doing detailed creative work and want to see details of pixel data more easily. I've been using Sammy 5000 series from 2010 for a couple years with only 1.2" depth at 60hz and very happy with color, clarity, and can be adjusted for a very clean picture. Only some "clouding" with the backlight that should be expected on such a thin edge-lit display on my 5000 series.trey31 wrote:]I had a UN55C7000 from a few years ago that wouldn't take even a 61hz signal without massive blurring. There's no limit against HDMI doing 120Hz.HDxDaniel wrote:120hz through HDMI? I thought that was possible ONLY with Displayport and Dual DVI ??
If any readers here would like to test this out, follow these instructions to test 120Hz with your HDTV, and let us know if it works. Don't forget to do the TestUFO frame skipping test at http://www.testufo.com/frameskipping too, to verify!Ahigh wrote:trey31 wrote:]If the UN40F6300 or the UN46F6300 took 120hz I'd consider grabbing one to use as a desk monitor. Yeah I just put a bunch of screenshots and videos of games I like on every screen to make the photo cooler, I typically only play one game at a timeSisterBob wrote:shadman wrote:or are you just a hardcore gamer that plays 6 games at once?and on one keyboard, no less!
