XBOX Game Support

All newer XBOX consoles supports 120Hz+ & FreeSync. Getting help with getting "Better Than 60Hz" on the XBOX ONE, XBOX Series S, and XBOX Series X, as well as the PlayStation 5.

XBOX Game Support

Silly question here.
Maybe its the Gin, maybe its the Vodka...but I just started wondering.....
Do the XBOX Games have to be coded for 120Hz specifically?

Will I have an advantage in COD type games with a 120Hz monitor?

To an extent, yes. Sometimes it's just a 1-line code change and a patch. Other times, there needs to be a fair bit of reworking.

It all depends on how the core of the game was written in its programming.

Fortunately XBOX games that were also written for PC, usually share the same code, and it's usually just a matter of deleting a cap. But other times, it can be much more complex that is a major project to fix 120Hz.

So the situation will likely be:
-- Expect some games to never get patches
-- Expect some games to get patches extremely slowly (e.g. 1 year from now)
-- Expect some games to get very quick patches
-- Expect future games to support the mode

Yeah Microsoft have kind of forgotten or overlooked to add a Freesync category to the Xbox store so users can actually know which games take advantage of it the most. Digitalfoundrys own test shows very few do currently.

The vast majority of AAA consoles games are capped at 30fps, a few titles are capped at 60fps and only a tiny handful have uncapped frame rates or toggles that allow it to be turned on/off.

A few rare games have a 60fps performance mode on the XB1X like The Surge or Gears 4 and various X enhanced Xbox 360 titles have been upgraded to 60fps.

Ideally in a console scenario you should have a Freesync section of the store and playing any of those games with Freesync enabled auto uncaps the frame rate.

Yeah! We may expect these upgrades in the future version. Or maybe they might be available for the gamers with an Xbox subscription card. These cards already offer a lot of benefits to its users. It is important to read useful reference and other important blogs for the further knowledge!

I think it's a really good idea to add discoverability for FreeSync-optimized games and 120Hz-optimized games.

When more people have the upgrade, we can use this thread as an unofficial list of optimized games.

It'll be a while before they become released to general public -- but some people here have early access!

If any of you gain access to the early-access alphas/betas, and run into these specific games, please post them here!
