Typically Benq's don't overclock well at all, the most you get is like 2HZ it just frame skips if you go higher.
I personally have never busted a monitor from overclocking or heard of anything, it probably could happen i just don't think it would.

That said, BenQ/Zowies does custom Hz very well. They are generally fully refresh-rate multisync.
If you need 237.5Hz or 117Hz or whatever, the BenQ/Zowies will usually merrily do them (with no frame skipping) if it's below the maximum Hz.

Re: Has anyone overclocked at benq xl2540?
Just wanted to say that with the latest few nvidia drivers (running a 1070 not OC'd), my friend has been able to achieve a higher than 2hz overclock on this monitor. It's just a modest 6hz, but I think it's impressive considering I have not been able to get more than 2hz out of zowie monitors myself.
Must be done with CRU of course. It works for me.
I have tested it as well and there was no frame skipping or any other similar issues I could find myself, but I'm very amateur at this still. If anyone can find a way to improve on these values, I would love to see it. I was using it in Overwatch with success, though the difference between 240 and 246hz is so minor as to be purely for bragging rights.
I want to corroborate the above post as well, I was able to do custom hz below 240 and above 144 very easily without frame skipping, such as when I was testing 185~ or so with blur reduction.
I want to also note that, when I downgraded to 388 series nvidia drivers and not 398, I was unable to do this. It would just give the out of range error.
Additionally, I used it for multiple days, weeks, without issue. So there are no stability problems with this very modest 6hz increase on scary zowie monitors.

Does that overclock still work with blur reduction enabled?
Sent you a PM, by the way.

I have not tried it with blur reduction enabled and I currently broked my PC doing some risky delidding so it will be a while before I can try it again.Falkentyne wrote:Does that overclock still work with blur reduction enabled?

Also apparently I can't use PMs until a certain number of posts? So I can't read your PM.
