I wonder if anyone knows the optimal route for this monitor. I've been trying to do research in regards to this issue. Older 144Hz monitors than this model are shown to have more crosstalk at 144Hz versus 120Hz. https://www.blurbusters.com/strobe-cros ... -or-144hz/
Attached are pictures (bad, but the best I could do with my S9) that show 144Hz versus 120Hz. For ULMB (Blur Reduction), intensity is set to 13 with an area setting of 10. Sadly, I can't even remember which photo resembles which Hz (I didn't jot it down, and then got sidetracked with something else), but they look nearly identical to me when it comes to crosstalk. I believe the one with the power button showing in the lower right corner is the 144Hz photo, and the one without the power button visible is the 120Hz photo.
I've also read that ULMB should be used in conjunction with V-sync. What supposedly happens is that your frames and ULMB get out of sync and make things blurry. Currently, I'm using the low lag V-sync method and I love it. I'm able to push past 120FPS almost constantly in nearly every game I play. The main game I play is PUBG though, and I'm unable to push constant 144FPS at times (even with my system overclocked to the brim). I'd say that about 25% of the time I'm unable to push 144FPS in PUBG. With that made clear, would it be best to use 120Hz instead of 144Hz? If so, I would go back to RTSS of course and change my FPS limit to 119.95FPS.

EDIT: Forgot to state that I put my phone's camera in manual mode and tried getting the best photos that way. I had the same exact settings for both 120Hz and 144Hz.

According to this post by Chief Blur Buster, what I've made bold in my previous post is a real thing and also causes micro-stuttering as a result. Also, I can now see a small difference in crosstalk between the two photos I shot earlier after comparing them on my PC monitor versus my phone's screen. This simply gives me more of a reason to switch to 120Hz versus 144Hz.
In conclusion, I'll be switching to 120Hz on my XL2730Z versus 144Hz due to slightly lower levels of crosstalk. Also, I can push 120FPS 90% of the time versus 144FPS 75% of the time. As a result, this should yield a smoother, more fluid experience in the games that I play.

Well, you can also go 100Hz. (I think 85Hz the lowest ULMB refresh rate?)

I would've definitely tried 100Hz, but I've read multiple times that the XL2730Z has a firmware bug that will not let it properly strobe anything below 120Hz. Refresh rates lower than 120Hz will still strobe at 120Hz regardless (from what I've gathered from online posts) due to the bug in the XL2730Z's firmware.

The Zowie XL2730 may or may not have fixed this. I've went back to the drawing board and found that I was incorrect about my monitor's refresh rate, and that's in fact 119.88Hz versus a flat 120Hz. As a result, I changed the FPS limiter in RTSS from 119.95FPS to 119.86FPS.

Try freesync + ulmb + rtss limit 120.
freesync + ulmb works through user profile switching. I’m sure that information on how to do this should be described somewhere.
(I don't know if it works with gpu nvidia. but it's worth a try )

@1000WATT I use V-sync alongside RTSS frame limiter, but I have heard of throwing Freesync into the mix alongside ULMB. I wish I knew how to go about doing that, but I have absolutely no idea how to get both of them working simultaneously. It would be the ultimate experience if I could get it all working together. I don't think I would mind or notice the flicker when frames would dip down into the 90s (which they rarely ever do anyways). My frames do dip down into the 110s and 100s when playing the larger maps in PUBG, and sometimes they dip down into those same ranges in Dead by Daylight. I do push 120FPS about 90% of the time though so whatever.
I remember downloading NVIDIA's first driver that enabled Freesync monitors to work with their GPUs, but the option never came up in the control panel (even when I had turned off Blur Reduction).

3 restart your computer.
4 open nvcp
if section gsync does not appear it is worthwhile to look for other solutions on the Internet.

It's more to do with amplified visibility of microstutters/jitteriness. That said, high-frequency microstutters can blend back into display motion blur, so there's truth to this in a roundabout way.HeroofTime wrote:I've also read that ULMB should be used in conjunction with V-sync. Regardless, ULMB (and similar) look much better with framerate=refreshrate motion.
Without display motion blur, every tiny microstutter becomes much more visible. Things simply look more jittery/stuttery with motion blur reduction (LightBoost ULMB, DyAc, ELMB, VRB, etc) so the main method to fix those is framerate-refreshrate matching whenever you're using motion blur reduction.
The other technique than matching framerate to refreshrate, is simply using overkill framerate (e.g. >300fps at 120Hz in CS:GO) which can compensate.
Yes, when it comes to motion blur reduction modes and making things clearer (fixing the jitteriness/microstutters), bumping the refreshrate downwards slightly to match framerate with refreshrate, and to reduce strobe crosstalk -- can be a strategic advantage when your numero uno priority is highest-quality smoothest motion blur reduction without the jitters.
Also, you can slightly jack-up the DPI if your mouse and lower your in-game sensitivity, while using a very clean mousepad + clean mouse feet (even replacement-purchase mouse feet). That also additionally helps reduce the ULMB-amplified microstutters and jitters too.
