Hi guys,
First post here, although I've been lurking for a long time and collecting all the great info you post.
I got the new Asus VG278QR which is one of the first models labeled as 0.5ms, and also one of the cheapest.
I couldn't find any info on it, so I thought I share my impressions for anyone interested in it.
Literally a day before I pulled a plug and got it, it got certified as G-Sync compatible, and sure enough, VRR works silky smooth.
It has Asus ELMB which works up to max refresh rate, and is the reason why they labeled the monitor 0.5ms.
With it disabled, pixel persistence is not spectacular, but ELMB on this monitor has a serious impact I have not seen before, not in that amount at least. The UFO in motion blur test is quite sharp, eyes and all, and there are no artifacts, trails or overshoot. Best monitor I've seen before this was the LG 27GK750 at 240Hz and their version of lightboost activated, but this one tops it, and at lower refresh rate too.
I've yet to measure the brightness with ELMB activated, though the screen is quite bright in normal mode, I would assume close to 400nits. Colours and overall picture quality are also quite good for a TN panel, so the monitor is a pleasant surprise, especially for about 340€ I've paid for it. I calibrated it, but it was quite good out of the box, with maybe slightly higher Gamma value than 2.2.
Hope this helps someone considering this model, or looking for a good value gaming monitor.
Cheers!

What about non strobed overdrive? Did you try ufo ghosting test? Does it show overshoot artifacts even at trace free 60?
I ask this because the 24,5 variant has a very bad overdrive

I tried it last night. It's much blurrier of course than with strobing, and with Trace Free at 40, there is no overshoot, but there is a pixel or two of blur trail. With Trace Free at 60, there is no blur trail, but there is a same amount of overshoot (white "ghost"). Too bad there is no 50 setting, cause it seams it would be ideal, but both of settings are pretty subtle, so it's hard to pick between them. I decided to stick to 40.

Awesome, thanks sharing and for the review! I'd buy this if I wasn't waiting for the Lenovo to drop any moment now... c'mon Lenovo!
Update: I just realized this hasn't even been released in North America. Only Europe & Australia!

ELMB is very dark.I dont like it so I dont use it.But I dont need to.At tracefree:100 setting you almost get a CRT like performance in games.I somehow need to tick one nvidia setting to get the best performance though.Dont know why.No need to mention that setting.Problem is only mine probably. I dont see huge color ghosting on my monitor though even at Tfree:100 setting.I am very lucky perhaps or Netherlands monitors are the best.
Two hardwares I bought I loved:My SSD(superfast) and this monitor.Vividpixel.Wow my lifesaver.

I was checking Prad's review again and noticed they tested Trace Free 100 with FreeSync wich resulted in barely recognizable image errors. There are 2 screenshots for comparison. So i imagine that at Trace Free 60 it would be 100% perfect.
Notty said he tried FreeSync and it solved nothing but according to Prad it works.
Karavanasam says the overshoot isn't big at TraceFree 100 but it is with FreeSync disabled wich i can confirm. Are you using FreeSync? If not, maybe you are very tolerant, you didn't get lucky. The overdrive will perform the same in any unit.
Ivanmancic, are you using FreeSync? If not, try it with Trace Free 60 and 100.
Even if FreeSync solves the overshoot, if someone doesn't use it for some game, they have to decide if it's acceptable. I decided to keep the monitor anyway.
Seems it's going to take me a while to get a new graphics card, so i can't test the monitor properly yet.

Not only it didnt solve anything but also added more noticeable input lag with VRR enabled, as usual on asus models

Notty, I believe you but i also believe Prad, so it works somehow.
This monitor is certified by Nvidia as G-Sync compatible, so it's mandatory that it works properly.
Don't know about Asus VRR and input lag, will know for this model once i get a new video card.
