There is no prad review for the VG278QR.
The one that shows up in google seatch is a review of the PG27VQ.

Stich7, the reviewed one is VG258QR, 24,5'' panel but same monitor.

Notty, no ufo tests, just two pics of a racing game.
I don't understand german, i use google translator for Prad reviews.

"Violent image errors in "Trace Free" 100 and disabled FreeSync"
"Barely recognizable image errors with "Trace Free" 100 and active FreeSync"
"In the left image you can see the strong contrast jumps and the corona very nicely, which are almost absent on the right image when FreeSync is activated. Of course, even with FreeSync on and the highest overdrive level enabled, the picture is not always bug-free, but quite an option for players who value performance more than a completely impeccable picture."

That's why i say that if with Trace Free 100 is almost perfect using FreeSync, with 60 it should be perfect.

There is some difference between the 258 and the 278.
Sometimes the 27 inch model is horrible, but the 24 inch is perfectly fine.
However if you don't notice any problems, then that's all that matters right?

I don´t know, I think I got spoiled by using masterpieces like ViewSonic XG2402. I can spot overshoot very easily. And while it´s true that VRR eliminates a lot of inverse ghosting on some models, it is also true that Asus gets noticeable higher input lag when you use it. If you check all Rtings Asus monitors reviews you will see how the input lag always increases once they activated it, in some cases a really fast monitor (4,3ms) would end up at a 5ms value, wich is not awful, but already slower compared to a standard 144hz model.

Asus VG258QR specifically, mighe be the fastest monitor I ever used with no FreeSync/Gsync. It is really responsive, but once you turn VRR it is gone, no more advantages.

I always use it with Freesync on (with nvidia card), it gives much better experience in games than couple of ms of input lag would.
I have a Leo Bodnar input lag tester (HDMI only, and 60Hz) and it shows 12ms, which is not as good as I measure on Viewsonic XG2401 (8.5ms), but is pretty much in line with other 144Hz monitors I tested.

Yes this is why maybe I dont see huge color ghosting on my monitor VG258QR when I use tracefree:100.
This monitor is almost a perfect gaming monitor for me and almost similar to my old CRT monitor which I used very young. This of course is brighter, bigger and sharper than that one. :D

I might had a bad sample, I don´t know. I really hope your samples are not any close to the one I had, otherwise I can go to hospital and threat mental health because I´m way too sensitive to everything monitor related :D

I swear my Asus VG258QR had completly unaceptable overshoot. I might try a different sample later on, with a discount. Won´t risk another Asus model, I´m still fighting with the store where I bought the XG258Q because I get the white screen of death regularly and the store doesn´t accept the monitor back. I´m fed up enough with Asus and their crappy products or my bad luck lately with their products

Notty my friend if you like your Viewsonic monitor and happy with it,then why are you trying to buy another monitor?I cant understand that part.People read your comments and decide to buy Viewsonic monitors. On the other hand you look for another monitor.Maybe you just need to slow down, use your existing Viewsonic monitor and then "later" when new models come,"maybe" look for another monitor.Correct me if I am wrong. :D

There are 7 Asus reviewed, only 5 have VRR. Three with 0,2/0,3 and two with 0,4/0,5.
Not a constant 0,1/0,2 but acceptable.

Enough for me to notice it immediatly, and I suspect gsync by driver increases it even more. Still waiting for a proper review on that!

@karavanasam I love to try monitors, because you never know. To me the monitor is one of the most important devices on a system and a lot of people dont give them enough importance!
