Monitor has free-sync enabled. How to turn off?
Monitor has free-sync enabled. How to turn off?
I have a nvidia card and I have g-sync disabled on nvidia control panel, but it says its enabled on my monitor settings. Ever since we're able to enable g-sync on free-sync monitors, my monitor feels different. It might be a placebo but I just want to be sure. When I switch from Display port to hdmi, it feels better because there isn't an option for g-sync. I've heard that display port has lower input lag, but it feels like hdmi does. Like, it feels like I can aim better with hdmi than display when I switch and it looks better. I have a XL2540 monitor.

You should have both of them on. Turn on freesync in your monitor's OSD and enable g-sync in the nvidia control panel. Right now it sounds like you have just freesync on, but not g-sync. And it now feels different than before? It's a bit hard to catch your meaning.ayeTop wrote:I have a nvidia card and I have g-sync disabled on nvidia control panel, but it says its enabled on my monitor settings. I dont want the option on at all. I hate g-sync and free-sync. I just want to turn it off.
Re: Monitor has free-sync enabled. How to turn off?
Doesn't the monitor itself have an option in its OSD to turn off freesync? If not, does it have an option to switch the displayport support from 1.2a to 1.2?

Re: Monitor has free-sync enabled. How to turn off?
If the hate is on the lag of VRR -- don't forget the tip.
To improve the feel of FreeSync and GSYNC, it's recommended to use a framerate cap about ~3fps below the VRR maximum. This reduces input lag by avoiding the VSYNC ON behaviour that VRR monitors typically use when framerates starts matching refresh rates.
However, for games that like to try to run at framerates above refresh rates, like CS:GO, then VSYNC OFF can feel better for many since VRR can throttle the framerates of older games. Using VRR can be strategically used for your most stuttery games.
You can also turn off "GSYNC Compatible" via NVIDIA Control Panel too.

Re: Monitor has free-sync enabled. How to turn off?
Chris (battlenonsense) made some interesting findings regarding input lag. https://youtu.be/L42nx6ubpfg
You can watch it but the take away regarding input lag was this:
1. Nvdia gpu + gsync compatible monitor (freesync screen) + gsync/freesync OFF = extra 10ms of input lag (compared to using a AMD gpu). Having it ON removed this additional 10ms lag.
Chris used a vg258 monitor. He is getting another monitor to repeat this test. He asked nvidia but no comment yet afaik.
Not sure if ur monitor is affected, but if it is, itd be interesting because itd suggest you play better with higher input lag.
