ONLY for competitive play, please answer !
Hello, i want buy 240hz monitor for a long time. I will use monitor only for playing cs:go, where i can get enough fps so i will not use G-sync/Free-sync, also i don't need ulmb/elmb or any other strobbing right? don't care about colors as well. I'm thinking about aw2518hf and xg248q and i have read about this monitors many opposite opinions and i can not decide. also i can get manufacturer refurbished xl2540 but don't know if it is safe. You can recommend any other model if you think it is better then my options. I read that aw25 needs some fixes and if this fixes really works its ok for me. main issue with xg24 is clouding, but if it is not affects on competitive side and is only visually bad then i don't mind it. What stops me from xg24 is that, it uses other panel then majority of 240hz displays and i'm not sure how good is it.
Sorry if post is long or confusing if you need clarification ask. thanks for help.

Re: ONLY for competitive play, please answer !
XG248Q or XG258Q are your best options, input lag wise (I´ve tried almost every 240hz monitor).
Deciding between the 2 is tricky tho, because both have advantages and annoying disadvantages.
What I will do is highlight each model behaviour, the final decision is yours!
Asus XG258Q:
- Lowest inpug lag 240hz monitor you can find, if you connect it using DisplayPort. Using the HDMI 2.0 connection the lag will increase.
- Panel has a light coating (is not glossy tho, not even semi glossy, but way lighter than most TN matte panels) wich makes the colours pop more and some transitions are smoother because of that aswell
- 24,5 inches starts to be too big for 1080p imo. You can notice pixels if you play very close to the monitor
- 24,5 inches imo is the limit you want to go on monitors for competitive gaming. I have to put the monitor far from my eyes to avoid moving my eyes
- Strobing only at 144hz, if you are interested, and its strobing is totally crap, not even worth it
Asus XG248Q:
- Low input lag too, on both Displayport and HDMI 2.0 connectors
- Panel has a very aggressive coating, wich is really annoying. You will notice smearing because of this, at least I did
- 23,8 inches is nice for 1080p, it has good ppi and is way crisper than any other 240hz model, because of that
- 23,8 imo is an amazing size for competitive gaming, easy for your eyes to spot all the info (map/radar at the corners, Crosshair, health/ammo, enemies on the corners of the screen on some window or something)
- strobing at 240hz
- Some DisplayPort errors, for example, sometimes when you Alt+Tab on a game, everything will be distorted and you need to turn the monitor OFF for 1 minute and connect it again or just reboot the PC. This is VERY annoying as I alt Tab a lot. Didn´t happen using HDMI 2.0, but with HDMI 2.0 you can´t have Gsync, only FreeSync (depends on your GPU)
- This monitor is cheaper, at least here in Europe we can find it for 380€, mine was even 339€
Wich one is better? Idk. For now I have a 144hz model and XG258Q 240hz. I still kept my XG258Q because I´m beating every personal record, aiming wise, with it. Mainly due to its ultra low input lag. I still prefer smaller screens and Idk how long I will keep this model, but for now I´m using it on games where I can sustain 200-220fps+, mainly Quake Live, Aim Hero.
On a brief note, I tried AlienWare AW2518HF, it has awful overdrive, the panel coating is the lightest, so the colours pop and the contrast is superb. Its input lag is noticeable higher than the Asus models I mentioned.
I would stay away from every Benq models because Benq overdrive to me is one of the worst on the industry, and also doesn´t offer you many options to tweak.

Re: ONLY for competitive play, please answer !
Thanks for replay, i'v read your thoughts about those monitors before but if you can explain this questions please.
When i'm checking this innolux panel it says 200hz
innolux: http://prntscr.com/nieyym
and on auo says 240hz:
AUO: http://prntscr.com/nif0e6
And for asus price is pretty low, because of that i thought this was cheaper alternative of auo panel.
I'm looking for benq because of dyac i'v heard it has best blur reduction. xl2540/xl2546 has same blur reduction just different names yes?
I don't know what should i pay more attention strobbing, overdrive or input lag in my case?
If i go with xg248q clouding/aggresive coating is bad just visually or it makes aim harder? I think this is not "right" question but explain this moment if can, thanks.

Way smoother image because of the coating right?pox02 wrote:i felt the aggressive coating dam i sold my xg248q and bought xg258q jesus you right thanksNotty_PT wrote:XG248Q or XG258Q are your best options, input lag wise (I´ve tried almost every 240hz monitor).

I think the coating on the xg248q is its worst disadvantage, altho the ppi is higher

And he has a gem too... LG W2363D!!! Wich was my monitor for 7 years! Until it broke and I can´t find another one! It is outdated now tho (DVI Dual Link, no VRR). But that size is so good (23 inches)
What I mean is:
Try to put both XG24 and XG25 side by side, use extended dual monitor config on Windows and drag your mouse around on the desktop. You will notice how the XG25 is even faster, wich seemed to be impossible to me.
Sadly there are no official reviews on the XG25. I wish Rtings reviews this model someday, because I am sure that according to their metrics we gonna see a record number there. This thing is too fast.

here a review of the XG258Q (it seems that the overdrive, gamma and color temperature are not that good compare to the PG258Q)
http://playwares.com/dpreview/53695484# here the review of the PG258Q
I'm struggeling between those two, i can get the XG258Q for 340€ and the PG258Q 425€ but i can't decide.

Have you tried changing 24.5 to 23? It saves my eyes in fps games on a 27 inch monitor. 27 - 24.5. (2560x1440 - 2330x1310).
Is it really so important to have 1920x1080?

I often do not clearly state my thoughts. google translate is far from perfect. And in addition to the translator, I myself am mistaken. Do not take me seriously.
