Even tho the information on the monitor might have the exact same scale, and yes maths do not fail here, on the cinema you will see chairs, people, etc and then the screen. Your eyes will be focused on the screen but they still get different info on the peripheral vision like Chief said. While at home on the 23 inch screen you are not seeing chairs or other people, you see only a tiny bit of table/keyboard.
I see what you mean but changing from 23,8'' to 24,5'' the little amount of extra information you get from placing the monitor farther won't make a difference to me. For that to happen I have to move my eyes away from the screen because when i'm focused on the screen it's like my peripheral vision gets blinded. I have team messages on screen and I have difficulty reading them because I'm focused on the center of the screen. It's worse a cluttered game HUD than a bit of table that I'm not even seeing.

Professional players on official LAN tournaments have alot more information than you have at home and that doesn't hinder their performance.
Professional tennis players have alot of information around the court but they are only paying attention to the ball and adversary.

You have actually some cases where players try to use the same setup as they have at home. Rapha, quake world champ, for example. He hates big screens or being closer to the monitor. He puts the monitors always on the side and position himself diagonally to the monitor even on lan, while using keyboard on his legs.

We might argue it makes no difference but rapha likes it that way and performs well. It has differences. But we would be dumb if we tild rapha he was wrong or made jokes about it and this is what happens with that 1000watt user. He has his opinion and tries to force it or make jokes about other users impressions. Thats why you did it correctly saying "for me". The table vision doesnt bother you, it does bother me, just like heavy mice doesnt bother some ppl and I prefer sub 70g mice if possible.

We all different and I prefer smaller screens to a bigger one further away.

They can set the placement but on a LAN they are surrounded by monitors, tables, cables and people sitting next to them.
I don't think you would do well on a LAN then if you can't focus only on the screen.
I don't mind a 22'' but a 24,5'' doesn't bother me, it actually has the advantage of seeing things bigger and for watching movies from my bed.

I had very good advantage in fps games when I had 20 inch samsung 60 hz monitor.I was a very good COD:MW 2 player.
Then I bought 22 inch another 60 hz monitor and I lose that advantage. Now I am using 165hz 24,5 inch monitor. It is great for my eyes really but I still dont have "that" advantage I had with my 20 inch 60 hz monitor. :)

Why not? You can always just create a lower resolution and disable scaling to get a 20" image. Like this:

In the case of a 27" 1440p monitor, if you change the resolution to 1080p and disable scaling, the result is a 20" image ;)

NVIDIA Control Panel has options to let you do this too (Adjust Setup Size -> No Scaling), doing this GPU-side.

Alternatively, several gaming monitors have on-screen menu options to let you do this, doing this monitor-side.

You won´t believe how many years I spent on forums and websites being "attacked" when I was already claiming high refresh rates would benefit your gaming performance by a mile. A lot of people always said "it´s useless" "you won´t get any better by playing 85hz instead of 60hz" "120hz monitors are a gimmick" "200fps gaming makes no sense, use Vsync" etc etc etc.
I've been mythbusting this FUD since 1993.

I wrote probably one of the world's first publicly distributed 30fps-vs-60fps demos -- downloaded from my BBS that I ran back in the day:

Blur Busters Forums is all about respect...

We don't play in the same way. Vision, comfort, perception, routine, focus strain. One may disagree with someone's setup but we can respect them. Even little nuances like focus disabilities, dyslexia, etc, interacts pretty weirdly with a gaming preference. Left/right eye better vision (or dominance / improved reaction time with one eye) might even cause a natural preference to realign the monitor to the side. It might just be comfort (your neck turns more comfortably to one side) or routine or other factor. But whatever is happening, we all just respect other people's setup. We can help to optimize if they ask but if they're happy with it, we just leave it be.

Thanks for the advice. But playing games in this size (24,5-1080p) is basically awesome.I dont want any advantage anymore. :)
I also am 10 years older. So I dont think I can play "that" good again if I try 20 inch scaling. :D

Playing on non native resolution doesn't add input lag if scaling is disabled ?
Should it be monitor or gpu scaling ?

It added input lag on every monitor I had, using a custom resolution without any scaling. I mentioned this on the 3rd page I think. It works great to decrease the size, but I didn´t like the added input lag!
