Anyone knows how to eliminate scaling input lag?

Anyone knows how to eliminate scaling input lag?

Post by Notty_PT » 15 Jun 2019, 07:48

Hi there!

So as I mentioned several times on the forum, I don´t like the fact my Asus XG258Q is so big (24,5). So recently I created some custom resolutions without any scaling (black bars) and ended up with a 1792 x 1008 custom resolution @ 240hz, wich makes the screen smaller, and I like it a lot!

The problem I have is that the input lag is noticeably higher by doing this. I tried to use both Display and GPU scaling without any difference. I noticed that by using no scaling, there´s always increased input lag across the board.

Would like to ask if someone knows a way to fix it, and thanks in advance!

1. Tell us what do you mean by input delay? How do you feel this?

Doesn´t matter the mouse bro, there´s input lag coming from either the monitor or GPU, I have no idea. I can use any resolution without input lag if I use scaling (fullscreen etc), but if I use black bars the delay is noticeable and I can´t figure how to get rid of it!

Yeah)
After looking at your messages, I realized that you had exhausted the options with the mouse)
The question is also interesting)

And which GPU do you use? just for statistics
And what game are we talking about?

I am using a GTX 1080ti and the input lag is noticeable even on Windows Desktop as soon as I switch to the custom resolution. That input lag carries to every game, from Quake to Apex, CoD, etc

Send me the CRU settings (I think through it you did all this).
I have the same monitor and GPU try to repeat the same thing and share my impressions.

Well, or if you don't need this kind of experiment, just say :)

I can help with this.Dont create a custom resolution.Use your native resolution.
Gpu settings: Enter scaling settings screen.Select size tab.Enable desktop resizing. Then resize. And you can play all your games with no input lag with your smaller screen. :D

Wow this actually works!! Thank you so much! I never noticed that option on the Nvidia Control Panel, ever. I tried it and it even let me chose the exact size I want, then it uses the resolution for that size and there is no input lag penalty!! BeautifuL! Now using XG258Q as if it was a 23.6 inch monitor, with the same low input lag :D

Thanks for the help too pwn and pox, this is fixed! Close thread
