2 million nits!

When can we get 2 million nits in a TV or monitor? :D

(Imagines 2 million nits Dolby Vision Avengers: Endgame)

Companies will need lawyers for all the blind people!

The lady even mentions 1000hz refresh rate around 8:30.

The first weaponized display technology; early adopters report "fantastic" picture, followed shortly by permanent eye damage.

Says one user, "Who needs repeat viewings of 1000 nits, 60Hz when you can see 2,000,000 nits, 1000Hz once? If there was one last thing I had to see, it would have to be this (literally). Worth."

Reports say after the display maker's recent success, they are looking to create a display capable of outputting the brightness of the sun, a project which they are dubbing "Galileo."
:P

All joking aside, such brightness, if reigned in, could be a great benefit to strobing, if we don't reach 1000Hz with such displays first that is.

The use is obvious to me:

Projectors.

A 2 million nit microdisplay would be great for small projectors.

2 million nits at 1 square inch would expand to only 200 nits at 10,000 square inches (~100x100 inch display).

No need for lamps.
The display itself is the lamp itself!

^ Yup, also true, and much closer to being fit-for-use in regards to the prototype's current progression/form factor as well. Early days for microLED, obviously, but it will be interesting to see where it ultimately goes.

We can have light cannons in pico projector format.

Simpler light engine and lensing needs when the display & lamp is the same!

Fit 1000 lumens in a projector that weighs less than 1 pound including lens, heatsink, fan, and rechargeable battery.
