RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
That´s right, I want to read everyone´s opinions on the monitor! I can´t try one until September but will keep reading this. Excited to know more about a 2,6ms Rtins input lag model with a true 2ms 0-80% response time <3 <3
Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
I don't think 480hz will release anytime soon and I can't handle more than 300 fps in games anyway.Dont buy a 240 monitor guys. Wait for a 480 or more hz monitor instead. Technology is very fast according to a source.
Don't be too harsh, they might not be perfect but reviews are still good IMHO. They still help the monitor passionates community.Even worse when the author is very arrogant and won´t accept criticism at all. If you go tell him that his tests are very outdated and innacurate, he will tell you that they are as good as the Rtings ones. From that point you know it´s useless to keep debating....
Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
Do you guys think this has lower input lag than the asus xg258q ? I'm considering this screen if it does.
Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
She is all setup, all I did was load rtings icc color profile, set overdrive to 3, and fire up overwatch setting it to 240hz with a 243 cap. I have gsync on.
Only played one game but my accuracy was 55% for Pharah, I normally average 42-43 per game. Not too scientific but it feels super smooth. I'll know more after a full several hour gaming session. Note I am using a coffee lake I5-8600 running at 4.7ghz and a 1080. I would say the vast majority of the time I was locked at 243 with a rare dip to 220's in a massive team fight. I am also using a Logitech G Pro keyboard and a Razer Death Adder mouse.
Colors are great, love the super thin bezel.
P.S. that was $377 US dollars for the price.

Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
So tel me @garetjax how do you feel the overdrive? You used an outstanding monitor overdrive wise and you never experienced the inferior overdrive of most 240hz models (apart from Xg248Q). Do you notice any overshoot? Any specific colours with more problems, etc? How is the responsiveness input lag wise? Tell me everything you can Thanks!
Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
@garetjax
Thanks for your first impression it sounds promising, I like a easy setup without running in problems, you can fine tune it later if necessarily.
Does it also perform well with normal desktop use like web scrolling, blurring text etc.
Anyway just use the monitor for a few days or more before giving a final verdict although most of my first impressions where the
right ones.
Same for the Razer DeathAdder, the first time I got it in my hands I knew it immediately, tried several other mouses but DeathAdder is my favourite for its shape and performance although i don't like the razer software, don't use it anyway np.
What about the ambient lightning is it any useful or just a gimmick?
sry I missed that, $377 is a very good price

Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
Really would be nice if TFT tested a competitor for the XF252Q. Was planning to hold out for that, but now not sure exactly what to think. Despite you guys talking about how great Rtings is and indeed I go there for reviews for TVs, specifically TVs, They have like one 240hz monitor.
Re: RTINGS test 240Hz HP Omen X 25f - Lowest input lag yet
If our math earlier in this post is correct, signal processing time is < 1 ms which is better than the acer 2ms signal processing time.Really would be nice if TFT tested a competitor for the XF252Q. Was planning to hold out for that, but now not sure exactly what to think. Despite you guys talking about how great Rtings is and indeed I go there for reviews for TVs, specifically TVs, They have like one 240hz monitor.
According to the response time measurement, it's very likely they are using the same AUO Panel.
Again we can be wrong but it's very likely it's better than the acer in terms of input lag.
Remember Rtings rated the Viewsonic XG2402 4.1ms and pcmonitors 3.16ms.
Other comparisons :
acer XF252QX : pcmonitors (g-sync one) 3.26ms, tftcentral : 3.3ms (freesync one)
aoc agon ag251fz : tft central 5ms, pc monitors : 4.68ms
pg278q: tft central 4ms, pcmonitors 3.6ms
pcmonitors testing methodology uses SMTT like TFTCentral and they often have roughly the same result (which is a good sign).
On the only sample when rtings test the same monitor than pc monitors, rtings measures higher input lag.
All of this is a good sign that input lag is not underestimated in rtings methodology
See the input lag ranking here https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tests/inputs/input-lag
The HP is ahead by a confortable margin which is a good sign.

Impressions so far:
first correct mistake I should have said 237 cap not 243...
I had been using my 144hz benq for several years, then came across Chiefs overclocking article and realized I could overclock my Benq. 220 was achievable but with too many artifacts on mine but 215 was perfect, except the colors were messed up and it was difficult to get them right again. I had been running 215 for a few weeks before getting this new Monitor - tired of waiting for all the new 240 reviews and I too trust Rtings - I love my LG OLED tv
Overshoot - don't notice any
Colors - again I used Rtings ICC profile they created after calibration- you can download it from the review. Colors are better than the BenQ, I haven't noticed anything strange but I have only played a few hours of overwatch and used a browser and windows desktop a bit
Input lag - surprisingly big difference. So much that I needed to "get used to this monitor" and the lower input lag. Normally with the character I was playing "Pharah" which uses a rocket launcher just like quake 3, if I am close to the enemies I get direct hits, further out and I have to shoot where they will be as the rockets take time to get there. 30 minutes my playing session last night I started to notice I wasn't getting my normal amount of direct hits (which stats are also kept for in game). After about an hour my numbers were getting back to normal. Hours 2-3 and my numbers were higher than my average. Again game to game enemies/players can be bad causing my numbers to go up or down but over a few hours and lots of games it seemed whatever was different causing me to be off (assuming it was less input lag) I got used to and my stats improved.
Scientifically I can't say how much better input lag is vs my overclocked benq, but it was enough that I had to retune my game.
I'm going to play more Pharah over the weekend, as well as some snipers and hitscans which should all help test out lag.
Oh a few other small notes - power button and gui control is on the back, I like the power on the back. Also it has a small power brick. The benq had a slide out headphones holder, on the Omen the top of the stand in the back is build for you to rest your headphones on.
