I have the monitor, it's 165hz not 144.
With FreeSync there is no ghosting at TraceFree 60. At TraceFree 100 there is a slight purple corona with ufo test but in games it isn't visible 90% of the time.
I play games where I have more than 165fps and although FreeSync deactivates itself it doesn't matter, it's overdrive mantains and image is still fine.

This was shot with my phone and the camera is bad. It doesn't show exactly what I see but just so you "get the picture" that there is no purple corona.
Yeah, my bad. Its 165hz. But it doesn't matter. You're using TraceFree 60, which is not as responsive as Trace 100 which are mostly used in all reviews. So for me as i said before its like buying a sports car to drive it at 50km/h.

With this one I can actually use it with minor artifacts (purple corona on very fast transitions), 60 for desktop and single player games and 100 for multiplayer games.
Did you try the monitor?

Yes i've tried some 144hz panels and above. I tried one AOC which had also 165hz but it was IPS panel and never tried them anymore.

I've tested ViewSonic XG2402 (didnt test the newer XG240R tho) but it was really good.

I've tested VG258QR but as always in Asus products - i dont like them. Simply because their gear is super fast, responsiveness is good, but i can't stand that unreal ghosting. On my unit corona's were really noticeable. I've had this monitor for about 5 hours, after i realized nothing i can do about that ghosting i just returned it the same day.

I also write in another forum. There are a lot of complains about VG258QR there.Recent buyers complain about some problems(bad colours, very yellow screen and etc) which I dont have with mine. There probably is a problem with some units.Notty was right after all and we didnt believe him. :D Mine is great but I stop recommending it to other people.

Sadly its lottery today, whatever you buy you have to be patient and check if everything is okey. Nowadays build quality along all products decreased because every company is in hurry to produce as much as they can.

My dell AW2518HF (the last one unit) i had was faulty. 100% sure. sad because that unit had almost 0 backlight bleeding.

Yes I am lucky,my unit is great.I dont know about other high hz monitors but this one also doesnt have tearing in any game.I dont know how did Asus make it possible.I dont need using vsync or fsync from gpu settings(I also disabled adaptive sync from monitor menu.) I dont limit fps also.Perfectly lowest input lag.And I am always called a cheater in a multiplayer fps game I play. They say I use aim and they report me.I reply yes I am using right mouse  (I know they mean aim hack :D )

what's this screen like when you're forced to cap lower than 240hz - say like 144fps and 190fps?

Can anyone do pursuit pictures to compare to hp omen x 25f? Strobed and non-strobed 240hz? 144hz strobed? TFT's strobed images looked pretty bad.

Also interested in a little more elaboration on this @steel116
steel116 wrote:"The best thing i've noticed playing on this monitor, is that it handles well playing at 150FPS with monitor set at 240hz. The gameplay is smoother, there is way less stuttering and tearing because of the disparity. ( i can compare it only to DELL AW2518HF, since i have them side by side)"
Thanks
