How to enable ELMB by default?

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

How to enable ELMB by default?

Post by Sicamore » 07 Sep 2019, 07:00

I'm using an ASUS VG258QR monitor and I would like for ELMB to always be enabled. I can activate it fine anytime through the OSD, but the problem is once I turn off my PC or even just restart, it gets disabled.

Fiddling with the tiny joystick just to turn on ELMB every time is inconvenient. Is there a way to have it enabled permanently or are all strobing modes really reset upon powering down the PC?

If there's an undocumented DDC command that can turn it on/off (try Entech Taiwan SoftMCCS to track it down, perhaps in the 0xE0 through 0xFF range), then a software utility may be possible to automatically re-enable ELMB.

Unfortunately, this is not possible on all monitors though.
