Second HP Omen X 25f

After the first X 25f (which had serious problems (that I know now)) I bought a second one and this exemplar is nearly perfect (for me).

No dead pixels, I like the uniformity, the contrast, the blacks and greys, the colours, almost no backlight bleeding, minor clouding (only visable in a dark room), good overdrive/overshoot ratio at level 3 shows very little motion blur in game or when scrolling on webpages, for now I use the colour settings and icc-profile from rtings as a baseline for further calibration (if needed).

In game (cs:go) movement is smooth and fast almost without any blur, no tearing or stutters and the screen is responsive with a good connected feel on the mouse.

Comparing with the few monitors I used before the Hanns.G hs233 120hz, Viewsonic XG2402 144hz, LG 24gl600 144hz, the X 25f is on allmost all aspects a step forward, I'm very happy with this monitor.
It's a 240hz TN gaming monitor which also can used for daily tasks like webbrowsing, office use, movies, photo editing of course with all respects being a TN panel but very acceptable,
I don't like two screens on my desk or connected to my computer so that is a big pro for me.

Considering the large possibility of (quality) differences in all properties (more or less) between the panels I assume every panel is unique same for all us humans (having a unique physical body and mind, perception, experience, etc.) so those are mine unique experiences with this monitor.

The attractive sales price at the moment (I think it's a bargain) was the trigger to try a second X 25f (I was not intended to do so), some people have to buy 3 or 4 times a monitor before getting luck in the panel lottery and that scared me a bit off but at the end I'm glad I did so.

I liked this monitor from the start despite the problems the first one had I could feel the underlaying performance from this monitor and the second one is almost perfect for me now, with that said I don't know how this monitor performs in other more demanding games at lower framerates/refreshrates with adaptive sync enabled, there is a discussion about that, no problem with games like cs:go, overwatch and a few others titles but if you play also more demanding fps games I would take note the above.

Which panel is used in this monitor is still a mystery, according rtings; "they assume it's the new AUO M250HTN01 panel" but there is no confirmation about that.

No I don't use any sync just capped cs:go at 300fps in the game

Send the second one back, the first few days I could not see or find the "vertical lines" like on the first one but after 6 a 7 days they become clearly visible
Still I think it's a nice monitor if those annoying lines weren't there.

Those lines are there on most AUO TN panels. There's really nothing much you can do.

Maybe I'm more sensitive for those lines, that could also be the case, still it's annoying for me, first days I couldn't see them that's a bit strange I don't know if it can get worst over time

TL;DR: LCD Inversion is the art of alternating positive/negative voltage in adjacent pixels in adjacent refresh cycles, to keep voltage balanced, to prevent static buildup and prevent image retention in LCDs.

Artifacts caused by LCD inversion can include checkerboard-textures, fine-lines textures, or vertical-lines textures, especially in solid colors during eye tracking. LCD inversion should be normally invisible but sometimes LCD inversion generates artifacts like these.

Not all panels have this, it is more common with TN and to some extent VA, while mostly invisible or gone on IPS. Generally, the faster the pixel response is, the more visible inversion artifacts can become, and it gets tougher to compensate. On a good monitor, they should only be faintly visible rather than blatantly visible. They are also less visible on some monitor brands than others. It can also be a panel lottery issue as well, and sometimes one goes so abberant that it's a warranty claim -- but it can also be a manufacturer/model trend.

I clearly see them on an old ASUS VG278HE but this artifact is very faint (hard to see) on the ViewSonic XG2530, and nonexistent on the IPS-based 1440p 165Hz GSYNC monitors.
