Question about overclock
Have a 144 hz xb271hu monitor but its possible to overclock it to 165 hz which would improve my input delay (super minor) from 141 fps cap to 162 cap for gsync. But I heard somewhere that this overclock actually increases monitor response time and not actually lower it, so if that's the case then no thank you! If response time increases then whats the reasoning behind overclocking the monitor if ever?

I have the same monitor.
The reasons are 1, marketing hype, and 2, you are genuinely getting a 21Hz refresh rate increase at the cost of slightly worse GtG performance (on this panel, at least).
While I wouldn't, I'm sure there are those that prefer the choice of an extra 21Hz over slightly worse ghosting.
As for the actual input lag benefit of 165Hz over 144Hz on the same monitor, correct, the difference would be very minor (0.8ms frametime difference, to be exact, which translates to around <1ms of an overall possible input lag reduction over 144Hz).
All told though, there's no harm in overclocking this display, so you could always give it a try and see if you can spot the overdrive difference in this test between the two refresh rates:

When I OC to 165 hz, ghosting is not visible using the site you provided.
Why would people prefer an extra 21 hz? For those who use gsync I guess I kinda would understand it cos they cap at 141 so extra 21 hz means a cap at 162 which means slightly less input lag (again super minor).
Does an extra 21 hz make the screen a little more clear maybe?
If the extra 21 hz would mean I get lower response times I would jump on it instantly but as you mentioned its has slightly worse gtg so their is probably no reason to go up at all.

There's also probably a psychological factor for some where they feel they're getting their money's worth with 165Hz, whereas 144Hz makes them feel like they're not getting everything they can out of it.

TFT Central tested 165Hz vs. 144Hz (different brand/model, virtually the same panel), and they said the GTG increase with 165Hz was a very minor difference that some may not even notice visually:
