Why are there no 240hz+ OLED monitors yet?

High Hz on OLED produce excellent strobeless motion blur reduction with fast GtG pixel response. It is easier to tell apart 60Hz vs 120Hz vs 240Hz on OLED than LCD, and more visible to mainstream. Includes WOLED and QD-OLED displays.

Why are there no 240hz+ OLED monitors yet?

Ever since OLED first debuted as a technology, its potential for extremely high refresh rates (1000hz and beyond) has been a major talking point. Despite this, the best specimens of OLED are only 120hz. What prevents a company like BenQ from tooling some OLED panels to run at 240hz? Anyone know?

There are very few companies who have the production capacity to make OLED panels for PC monitors, the few available are extremely expensive . A company like BenQ is unlikely to jump on that as a result unless someone is pumping out OLED panels for laptops that can be re-purposed for PC monitor usage or that factory can scale up to larger panels.

In the future LG Display's WOLED panels used in TV's are likely to have 240hz support but the smallest they go down to will be 48" in size and were probably looking at 2021-2022 minimum for that.

Burn in. No one wants to take the risk in a new segment that has a potential for a lot of headaches (regardless of how much money could be made). Just goes to show you the state big companies are in. Small incremental improvements with almost no risk > anything with risk associated with it.

Only company I could possibly see doing this is either a new venture from a no name, one in a different market segment with very little monitor presence, but experience (like LG), or a company that occasionally tries to innovate such as Asus. I have asked the same question over the years.

Even areas that aren't as experimental, such as simply increasing refresh rate companies aren't willing to spend R&D on making a custom board for their monitor.

We'll probably see a venture attempt one with a lot of teething issues, but promising sales, then all the big players will jump on it making their own version of the same thing for a me too.

Dell released a 55" oled monitor using LG's panels.

The resolution is 4k and DisplayPort doesn't have the bandwidth to drive 4k@240hz.

That's basically a TV.

the burning core is supposed to be 144hz and I believe there's an 120hz coming up.
sadly those are 21.6 and 14 or so inches diagonally. they are very small.
I hope the 27" 4k Model will have 120 and not 60hz.

Moreover, there are no OLED monitors on Blur Buster's monitor list - do none of them have acceptable latency, even @ 144hz? Do none of the OLED 144hz monitors rival the top IPS 144hz monitors?
Thanks.

Because they aren't out yet. The only high refresh rate OLED monitor you can get right now is the 55" 4k 120hz Dell. It has very low latency, but I haven't seen any reviews that measured the exact amount.

The best blacks I've seen were on my Iiyama Vision Master Pro 514... Hopefully the latest OLED will match up. Having very dark blacks will help with eye strain at night while reading light-colored text.
