i wanted to change my xl2540 with one of this new ips 240hz monitors but after reading some reviews response times seem to slow and it would feel more of a downgrade for competitive fps, i will try my luck with acer's nitro xf272x and look for improvements test the vrb for anything else that's not twitch shooter lg's 38gl950g-b would be the best of all worlds

I might order their XN253QX and the XG270 and test which suits me better. I am used to playing 1080p on 27 with my current monitor and I never had problems. I agree with the positive features of the XG270 outweighing the 27‘ size.
if you really buy both pls let me know ! would love to hear your thaughts, i did hear very good things about latest gen of tn monitors too

Thank you for your view on the XL2546. My only problem with the XG270 is the 27' display size. Is there anyone who has experience with that monitor size and resolution? I am not sure If that is optimal for 1080p.
Would you guys even recommend buying a panel now our would you just wait till next year?
I would actually prefer 27” 1080p to 24” 1080p. I have a huge table and if I could sit my 24” a little bit more back, I’d have more workspace, but I can’t since I wouldn’t be able to read text.

That is the absolutely the best way to buy monitors everyone should consider.

I just received the ROG PG258Q for Christmas; is the XN253QX a far superior monitor that I should exchange for? I didn't see the XN253QX on the List of Best Gaming Monitors by Blur Busters yet.
Acer XN253QX is far superior.

Of course the XN253QX is far superior. The reviews speak for themselves, as well as the feedback shared here. Which is exactly why I was confused as to why Chief has chosen to not mention it whatsoever.

I, personally, would not get a 27" monitor for gaming. Neither would my friend, and he's not even a competitive player; he just thinks that an HD resolution on a 27" screen does not produce a good enough picture quality, and many claim the same thing. As I said here in another thread, ~24" monitors are the undisputed rulers in the competitive gaming scene, which is why I'm frustrated to see all of these 27" 240Hz IPS monitor being released before their 24.5" counterparts. As I speculated here, I feel like companies would obviously rather maximize profits as much as possible, so they release 'new gen' monitors in bigger size, thus higher price, rather than release both variants and potentially lose money with people opting to go for the smaller sized ones...

That being said, as I mentioned in my last paragraph, here, it dawned on me that the XV253QX will not have the G-SYNC module, making the monitor only G-SYNC compatible. As someone who play games with very unstable FPS, I would like to relay on G-SYNC, and I'm not sure how good G-SYNC compatible monitors are in comparison to a genuine G-SYNC monitor (I asked Chief to address that but he's yet to reply), meaning that I could potentially be waiting in vain, for a monitor that I will not be interested in. If I knew for a fact that the G-SYNC would suck in these 240Hz IPS monitors, I'd just go ahead and purchase the XN253QX right now.

For me the best monitors for earlier 2020:
-ViewSonic XG270
-Acer XN253QX
-Lenovo Y27gq-25
Each has own cons and pros. And the best way to chose one of them would be to buy all 3 monitors and play on the monitors your favorite games that you are very familiar with, then keep the monitor you like the most and return the others.

A high quality monitor arm (like this one) could solve your issue. You'd then be able to pull your monitor closer to you without sacrificing work space.

How would a monitor arm allow me to see text clearly when the monitor is furthest for me? I already use one.

? o-o
I think you misunderstood me; I said pull closer, not farther.

You said:

Meaning that if you use a monitor arm, you could bring the monitor closer to you to be able to read, without sacrificing work space (because there would be no monitor stand in your desktop workspace vicinity).

What cons the Lenovo has besides being the most expensive and apparently having noisy fan?:D

It has no ULMB and no crosshairs. Although, I'm not sure if ViewSonic XG270 have on-screen crosshairs, and the ones on Acer XN253QP (I haven't tried XN253QX, but I'm assuiming they are the same) are freaking huge, but at least they are there. Also having owned 2 Lenovo laptops I think that Lenovo is a shitty company :D
