240 hz monitor stuck between these 3...

Post by GFresha » 10 Jan 2020, 20:31

AW2518HF and the Asus XG258Q (non g sync version of PG258Q) and the Zowie XL2546 (newer model of XL2540)

So far from my research, I would buy the xl2546 cos of dyac at 240 hz but I also read that they have one of the most slowest response time out of the other 240 hz monitors. No1 really backs up this statement with a source but since I see it being mentioned frequently, I am guessing its true?

So in that case I am left with AW2518HF vs XG258Q and in that case just get the cheapest one out of those 2? Their is no specific reason to get one over the other? Which one has lower input lag if at all? What about OD settings, which one is known to show more inverse ghosting with higher OD settings? I tried AW2518H OD settings and def saw the overshoot but I am not sure about AW2518HF

Also reason why I am not too interested in the new 240 hz panels is cos I already own a 1440p IPS monitor as my main monitor, so I just want something cheap ($350 or less) to use as my secondary monitor for competitive. Kinda childish spending that much money but I play both graphics and competitive games and also watch lots of movies on my 1440p monitor so I want to keep it

xg258q, but you have to get used to the terrible overdrive.
I often do not clearly state my thoughts. google translate is far from perfect. And in addition to the translator, I myself am mistaken. Do not take me seriously.

Of those 3 monitors I mentioned do they all have shitty overdrive more or less?

Do the new 2019 panels have better overdrive settings? How much price difference to expect?

What you think about Acer Nitro XF252Q

1 from best to worst. PG258Q- AW2518HF(after calibration) - XL2540 - XG258Q.
2 XF252Q OMEN X 25f The vertical lines of inversion, for me personally, this drawback negates all the advantages.

Good overdrive = no outlier. And it is very useful for viewing the browser, scrolling text, movies.
A bad overdrive is a ghost of blue or green or white or red. On some tn monitors, this can be fixed by changing the contrast or rgb.
Of all the monitors listed, the xg258q has a black ghost. When scrolling text, long black ghosts are observed.
But what is bad for text is not necessarily bad for fps games.
When moving in the game, objects of darker shades are darkened even more due to black ghosts; in movement, the contrast between dark and light increases. And it helps to aim, but as I said earlier, you need to get used to it.

Is there a guide to calibrate my AW2518HF? I have only found 1 and I didn't like it that much.

Overdrive Calibration Technique through contrast or rgb is universal and can not be reduced to specific models of monitors. Contact the moderators; there may be instructions. I do not speak English to write instructions.

XF252Q is very well reviewed, also by users themselves. You are the first one to bring up vertical lines of inversion. Didn't you just have a bad panel?

There is always a chance of bad luck. :(
in 1 day I looked at 4 monitors (Omen x25 / x25f XF252Q XN253Q) all 4 had these problems, I bought x25 for tests and returned it a week later.
