Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

anyone else saw this video ? https://youtu.be/PBp1EQF2uSQ
(Titel: The Fastest Gaming Monitor... for now (280Hz, IPS) - ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM Review) so it is a review of the new asus vg279qm with elmb-sync sadly no response time charts or anything like that. Last time i did test elmb-sync on the tn-version it was terrible, not well tuned at all.. but in her review she says "280hz with elmb-sync with just minimal overshoot" if thats true it would be insane even the xl2546 had terrible overshoot on 240hz dyac .. would love to hear what you guys think ?

Hi guys, I just need your opinion on two monitors that I'm looking at. One of cos is the viewsonic xg270. The other is the Lenovo Y27gq-25.
Right not I mostly play For Honor. Sometimes I do Anthem.

I don't really like shooting games so I don't play them much. Although I've done division. Price regardless please let me know which monitor would be better for a game like For Honor, fps and clarity wise as well as picture quality wise.

I like the Lenovo 1440p with 240hz but was wondering with the ips panel on the viewsonic at 1080p and backstrobe would that be better for me? I'm noob when it comes to monitors so any advise will be appreciated.

Noob question how do u OD a monitor refresh rate?

Thanks in advance

Chief, when you tweaked the PureXP+ firmware, how many Overdrive Levels are availables in this environment ? The same levels as users with PureXP+ Off ?

When PureXP+ or Adaptive Sync are active, Overdrive setting is locked and Dinamic Overdrive set ON ?
Overdrive is not user-adjustable with PureXP+ enabled -- since Overdrive is pre-tuned to its optimal PureXP settings for each common refresh rate and each common PureXP setting.
________

Generically, most LCD panels use a generic "Overdrive Gain" style system that provides over 100 levels of Overdrive. In a tuning environment with most panels for most manufacturers, very fine overdrive adjustment is available. This was done and then locked to their best settings. Few vendors expose the full fine tuning range (e.g. NIXEUS and their 128-level overdrive) to the end user.
good to know, may i ask if you did hear anything new about a smaller version of this screen, i did send my unit back because it was to big for me ... or is there any other monitor vendor you are working together with right now ? i will def. try out the vg259qm once it is avalible and see how i like elmb

On the RTINGS-suggest page, a different monitor is zooming up the RTINGS rankings in a last-minute voting, almost getting ahead of XG270

Thanks, 100 levels sound very good, i didn't expect so many :D
Those 2, 3, 4 or 5 overdrive levels in most OSD menus are usually simply pre-configured Overdrive Gain numbers such as "25", "51", "72", "95" (Note: These numbers randomly picked out of thin air, just to give you examples, by the way, and does not resemble any numbers I currently have seen or use under NDA or otherwise).

So those 2, 3, 4 or 5 levels in the OSD are simply cherrypicked levels of the 100-level or 128-level "Overdrive Gain" that's already built into most TCON/scalers.

The LCD "Overdrive Gain" setting is often visible when you open service menus of many monitors, but are often not memorized (quickly forgotten when you power cycle).

I envy the very few manufacturers (like NIXEUS) that has the gumption to directly expose Overdrive Gain to the end user. Overdrive Gain is kind of like 100-level or 128-level overdrive.

Yes, monitors essentially already has 100-level overdrive behind the scenes; it's just not commonly a user accessible adjustment.

We may make user-access to Overdrive Gain a mandatory requirement of a future version of the Blur Busters Approved program, since we love overdrive adjustment sliders -- like Brightness / Contrast slider bars [0%--|------------100%] ... We've always such Overdrive flexibility since 2014 ever since they were discovered by end users in service menus.

Viewsonic XG270 won.
Guys remember to vote for Alienware AW2720HF.
Same IPS panel. Could be interesting to have comparison.

Silly question.

Does this monitor work with an AMD card like RX 5700 XT? (the freesync part and the purexp part)

Asking because it is listed as "G-SYNC & FreeSync" here

Yes, no problem, XG270 is GSync Compatible, not GSync.

"FreeSync" and "GSync Compatible" are the same tech (VESA Adaptive Sync), all GPU with DisplayPort v1.2a and upper are full compatible. RX 5700 XT is DP v1.4

PureXP+ strobing is a monitor feature, does not require any especific GPU brand, only that GPU can output the resolution and refresh rates that monitor can strobe. Enjoy !

Wow, I've been dreaming of a monitor like that for years. (strobing, 'gsync', IPS, 1080p)
I'll be ordering one from the UK (only 30 pounds shipping to EU).
I can finally replace my 9 year VG278H lightboost monitor.

And also get a new GPU (which don't have DVI anymore, so no 120hz compatibility with VG278H)
