One of my monitor just died so thought it would be a good time to get a higher quality monitor and was looking at the VG248QE since i do allot gaming. I'am coming from a Asus VE247H and I never really complained about the picture quality but I also never really had any higher quality monitors to compare it to. I also never changed any of the settings on the monitor and pretty much left it on Default settings.
Reading the ASUS VG248QE alot of poeple seem to complain about how terrible the picture quality is and I know that TN panel just don't have the quality of a IPS panel. So my question is compared to other TN panels how bad is the quality? Is it something that very apparent how bad it looks but I would be trading it for the 144hz and less motion blur?
Asus VG248QE Picture quality compared to other TN panels?
Re: Asus VG248QE Picture quality compared to other TN panels
Hi, i dont know why poeple saying that TN have bad pictures/colors maybe they are refering to that matte screen, ive compared my Benq XL2411T with my Samsung HDTV and i can say that the TN panels are really nice for gaming.
if u calibrate TN panel it will look very good, even with LightBoost mode, maybe blacks are too black in some situations, but i own Benq, and i am using their "Black Equalizer", its doing his job very good.
I heard that Asus VG248QE are using the same panel like some Benqs, imo in regular mode it will be very good for gaming but it will have worse colors in LightBoost mode, never seen with my own eyes, but i know that u can achieve good colors with the calibration, like setting Digital Vibrance to like 70%, reducing Brightness to achieve better blacks, locking profile in cKepper and you will be good to go!
i own IPS LG 24inch and for me personally, the colors are no that great overall, and 60hz is just bad, seriously, 120hz is only way to go, because mouse is very precise piece of hardware
if you plan to buy Gsync module then go with Asus, when not, buy Benq XL "Z" series v2 firmware and you will be blown away!

Have you considered the BENQ XL2411Z Version 2? The Version 2 model has a much "LightBoost" equivalent called BENQ Blur Reduction, which doesn't degrade colors (no crimson tint, no gamma bleach) when combined with Blur Busters Strobe Utilitytarthal wrote:Reading the ASUS VG248QE alot of poeple seem to complain about how terrible the picture quality is and I know that TN panel just don't have the quality of a IPS panel. The XL2411Z (Version 2 is now on BENQ USA store) can now can be had for 299; almost the same price as the VG248QE. Use coupon code "GAMER$20" to bump 319 down to 299.
Alternatively, getting a VG248QE and a GSYNC upgrade, to gain the better ULMB mode (LightBoost sequel) and the GSYNC mode.

Re: Asus VG248QE Picture quality compared to other TN panels
Ye, I looked at both the Benq XL2411z and XL2420z and was leaning towards the XL2420z. But was a little worried about the complaints version 1 of the monitors are getting.
I'am sorta stuck purchasing from amazon.com right now since I got some Credit with them on top of amazon prime free 2 day shipping and having to purchase some other items.
Wasnt even considering gsync since when i checked the other day it was out of stock and reading the forums they were only selling to modding companies now instead of individual DIY customers. But now that I see they are still selling it makes me consider the Asus more...

I own the VG248QE and i find the color great even at 144hz, its only when you use lightboost that colors take a huge hit with this monitor and why im not using it much . . .
If you plan on using blur reduction i'd recommend getting it with the gsync board or just go with the BENQ instead
