When Chief started this forum, he envisioned a place where people can exchange opinions and information in a friendly place. For this to happen, we all must be able to understand that the written word will always come off stronger than the spoken one. When someone perceives a post as being condescending or aggressive, please keep in mind that more often than not, this was not actually the intention of the post's author!

So please try to keep this place a pleasant discussion forum and try to give others the benefit of the doubt when they post something that seems to annoy you to no end. Most of the time, it simply was not intentional. Aggressiveness and escalation is much more likely to happen during time delayed, written conversation compared to real time, spoken conversation between individuals. Keeping that in mind whenever you think someone is attacking you, or trying to force an opinion on you, is a good way to keep a simple misunderstanding from escalating into a flame war!

It took me a long time to figure this out ever since I started participating in online forums. But once I did, I found that my online discussions became much more pleasant.

I can certainly see use cases for really preferring only high resolutions, and really prefering only low resolutions. So respect both sides.

Now back on topic about 1440p 240Hz, I think let's stay on topic on release dates please, as I AM interested in that too -- this thread isn't the "The nuances of why 1366x768 can sometimes be better than 2560x1440". Nor it is the "How big will the benefits of 1440p 240Hz be?" thread. So create a new thread.

CES 2019 FTW! (I'm going)
Looking forward to the coverage!
And don't forget to have fun! :D

So... Any more interesting 1440p 240 Hz monitors coming up?

The Lenovo, omen x 27 and the ag273qz are all the ones I know of. Awaiting the ag273qz review from tftcentral

I agree it would be grea to see AOC AG273QZ review, but tftcentral only posted 1 AOC review in the past 3 years.
I think, I'm gonna get Lenovo y27gq-25 again. Would love to have some site or some person compare those 3 monitors, but it seems that marketing failed to deliver amessage that 1440p 240 Hz TN is the best gaming experience you can get and nobody wrongfully interested in these monitors.

It's more that they cost literally twice the price of entry-level IPS, TN and VA 1440p 144hz offerings, sometimes almost triple.

The value isn't justifiable at $650, not even $500. Even LG's overpriced offerings still manage to carve out space for the GL83A for $300-$320 on sale.

I have tried one of them myself and I strongly believe they provide the best gaming experience, hence they are worth it. IPS don't stand a chance in terms of motion blur handling and even picture quality!

Well the AG273QZ Tftcentral review is out. I'm however not a patreon so I'll have to wait a while but considering it isn't even on sale from a decent retailer here in Sweden it doesn't matter.

I'm surprised there are so few 1440p 240 Hz monitors coming out however.

I managed to snag one of the clearance Omen X 27s on the HP Canada store before they went out-of-stock. Only thing I'm concerned about is the PWM backlight. Although it flickers at ~7000Hz, if I did my math right, so shouldn't be a problem. Curious to know if the AOC flickers. The Lenovo probably not because of the G-Sync module.

EDIT:

Decided to support the TFT Patreon for the AG273QZ review. Just some of my thoughts on the important stuff. AOC opted for an overdrive function that favors overshoot performance. There's zero ghosting on optimal overdrive but average GTG is 4.7ms @ 240Hz. Also, there's zero ghosting as the refresh rate drops while maintaining the optimal overdrive, indicating there's variable overdrive on the AG273QZ. In my opinion the Omen X 27 strikes a better balance with its optimal overdrive setting, favoring response times and introducing some minor but generally unnoticeable ghosting. There's no variable overdrive on the Omen X 27, but increased ghosting is still fairly low even at low refresh rates.

Minimum brightness is 130 nits, which may be too high for some people. TFT noted no PWM but there were flickering/shimmering artifacts the lower the brightness setting. Also, some settings in the same brightness range were better than others. For example, 13 was the the most optimal low setting with 1-12 and 14 showing more artifacts. 13 looks like it would be ~170 nits according to the chart.

I'm not sure how to compare input lag results from TFT, Rtings and Techspot. Some data must be in error on at least one site because relative placement by the same reviewed monitors doesn't square with the data. Going by relative placement the Omen X 27 has lower input lag than the AOC.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! How do you think these 2 monitor's overdrive compare with Lenovo y27gq-25? There is a discount on it in my local shop - $740.
