VG32VQ the flicker....omg

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

VG32VQ the flicker....omg

Post by mavarick22 » 14 Apr 2020, 09:30

I run a 5700 flashed to 5700xt and a 3600x.

Is it possible to reduce the flicker? It happens a lot, even with elmb off. Is it the freesync?

It's just so distracting. Tips?

What kind of flicker are you getting?

Regular flicker? Erratic flicker? Continuous flicker?

There are hundreds of reasons of flicker that are totally different for totally different displays, and we need more data.

Common flickers:
Erratic framerate-fluctuation flicker (VRR induced) -- temporarily turn off VRR and see if flicker stops
Regular flicker with PWM artifct -- try temporarily brightness 100% (too bright) and see if disappears
Chessboard-patterned flicker -- this is possibly (not always) unexpected artifact from normal inversion logic (aka "inversion artifact")

There are (sometimes, not always) multiple remedies, depending on type of flicker.
