Why i aim better with my 27GL850 rather than my 240hz monitors ?

Post by PirateNinjaInPijamas » 19 May 2020, 03:11

Hello to everyone, i've tested what i'm saying so many times but i am so confused... In aim trainers i aim Better with my HP Omen x25f hands down. But although i have my 27gl850 for single player titles (colours & grarphics), sometimes i play overwatch just for fun with the LG IPS monitor. The last month i am testing ingame between these two monitors constantly in OW, and i have better aim in game in general with the Lg rather than the 240hz Tn super fast monitor.I even climbed 1 rank playing 2 days with the LG, that i was stuck for many weeks! I have to mention i had several 240hz monitors and the x25f is by far the best i had in response time and image clarity, and i also have to mention that i am very sensitivy in ghosting, and when i play with the LG sometimes my eyes hurts with the ghosting and unsmoothness going around overall.I am used to 240hz monitors. But although all these facts, i aim better with the LG. Could it be due to the colour clarity, or the 27'' ? Anyone had any similar isues ? I have to mention that i've never owned an 240ips monitor, and i'm thinking to buy the Vg279qm , or the Xl2746s. I'm really confused though and i need some help !

Most likely because it's 27". You're able to see the enemies better than you can with a 24.5" screen. I had the same experience with a 24.5" 240 hz panel so i ended up returning it.

That's what I thought as well. Thanks for you experience and advice. I think my best bet is the xl2746s since I need the motion clarity and probably prefer 27".

You could tweak the settings on the LG to match the picture quality of the Omen to rule in/out the importance of the extra color gamut. If you have a NVIDIA card you can go into the settings and reduce digital vibrance under the default 50%.

The XL2746S is a fantastic display, I'm very happy with it so you can't go wrong with it.

Signal processing lag difference between those 2 maybe? in my experience that is what makes a monitor feel "snappy" or responsive

The x25f has very low signal processing lag so that can't be it.

I'll try the afternoon the colour tweak as i have nvidia card to see if there's relativity to colour diferrences. Thanks for the advice ! As for the input lag, the Omen has way lower input lag than the LG. I think thats why i have better scores at aim trainers etc. But IN GAME.. that's another story and surely isnt about input lag, but thanks for the answer anyway ! I mostly think as Scrubz said that it is the Size of the monitor. I can't wait for the XL2746S to be available for purchase in my country !

You can use the monitor's sRGB profile, much better match than Nvidia digital vibrance.

Also, I'm curious on how much better on average you do on aim trainers with the omen, since I have the 27gl850 and I think I do pretty good in kovaaks.

Maybe i am wrong but the HP is 1080p and the LG is 1440p. I've heard that people can see the neck of their enemies on 1440p but not on 1080p, maybe that extra detail help you ingame (but i can be totally wrong xD ).
