Hi, thank you for sharing. I am a league player too and ordered same monitor with amd card. Will the BFI increases input lag obvisouly from your feeling?
Also, if you turn freesync off and set refresh rate to 280hz, will you notice tearing when you have much lower fps(~140fps for example)? Since league is a poor optimized game and can have fps drop as game proceeds.
How about ghosting when you have fixed refresh rate. Will it be the same no matter what fps you are getting?
Sorry for so many questions!
BFI does add input lag, but it's definitely not obvious imo.

I think that the motion clarity is worth the tradeoff, it makes tracking in fps games so easy.
With Freesync and the monitor set to 280hz there will be no tearing, BFI in League Of Legends makes the camera movement extremely smooth, I really like it, but you should not enable this feature on the Asus if your minimum fps is lower than 180hz because it creates some obvious overshoot due to the Overdrive stuck at 80.
IF your fps are in the 120-200 range you should enable OD60 which is very consistent in this range.

If you select the correct overdrive there's barely any ghosting, it's very close to TN level if I compare it with my 144hz TN.

Tell me if you want to see ELMB-Sync in a specific game, I can provide 720p480fps videos, feel free to ask any question.

Thanks for the reply man. I think I found some controversial information online. From TFT central (https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/as ... htm#gaming) the VG279QM (assuming similar panel to VG259QM) it says OD 60 is better at 120-200Hz range. But from hardware unboxed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPk0REW6qBc) it sayd OD 40 is actually better in the whole adaptive sync range (lower response with minimal ghosting). Maybe it depends on panel or their testing methods.
I just have one more question. If you set Freesync off, while keeping fixed refresh rate (e.g. 280Hz), and you have 120-200fps in a game. Do you have fixed amount of overshoot in this case? (So I think OD 80, 280hz and 120-200fps is usable in this case because it produces the same amount of overshoot as 300fps at fixed 280hz). From my understanding the overshoot is related to refresh rate and not to the actual fps.

Overdrive 40 is apparently faster than OD 60 on the VG279QM, at 200+hz there is no point in using 40 or 60 since you start reducing the G2G % inside the smaller refresh window.

Correct.
Thank you for the reply. Just for learning purpose, do you think tearing will be obvious at such high refresh rate? (280hz) I tried to test on my current monitor (omenx25f) and I found the tearing to be very hard to find when I set the monitor to be 240hz with ~140fps in game. I have heard that tearing is less obvious at higher refresh rate but need confirm on this.

No, it's barely visible at 280hz, it was much more annoying on my 144hz.
