Which one of these ASUS or BENQ monitors?

Post by omeggie » 23 May 2020, 15:17

Hello people, I've just created an account and come in peace to this website in search of valuable information towards my future investment!

So I'm stuck between purchasing one of these monitors: BenQ ZOWIE XL2546, BenQ Zowie XL2540, Asus ROG Swift PG258Q,
Asus ROG XG258Q, and Asus XG248Q.

So I'm just gonna mention my number one priority is playing competitive CS:GO with fast responsive 240hz monitor and occasionally play games like warzone etc for fun.
Mainly what I'm trying to understand from here is I've learned to understand that the biggest difference between most of these monitors is that BENQ monitors difference is DYAC, and other monitors are freesync or g sync right in an exception that Asus XG248Q is 23'8 inches. As i mentioned before my main priority is to play csgo and i think ive learned and read that all these g sync freesync dyac things most people/pros dont even use in cs:go so do these even matter to me since xl2546 and pg258q is notably more expensive than others and i dont like bezels and design of Asus XG248Q so this narrows down to just xl2540 or xg258q and im leaning towards xl2540 as of now. Is my knowledge of these things correct and going with either xl2540 or xg258q in my position i can't go wrong with?

Play any console games?
ASUS XG248 (and I think XG258) is no brainer, as it has lowest 60Hz input lag, since those panels are horizontal scanrate multisync -- the ability to sync cable scanout to panel scanout, to allow 1:1 symmetry of cable refresh to panel refresh (high speed videos of a LCD refreshing). This is useful if you want lower lag of lower refresh rates. No significant performance margins for 240Hz, all the 240Hz panels are realtime refreshing for a 240Hz signal.

Need most flexible strobing?
I'd steer towards XL2540 or XL2546 motion blur reduction, DyAc is one of the better 240Hz blur reduction that supports Blur Busters Strobe Utility.

Need brightest strobing?
The BenQ XL2546 and the ASUS PG258Q has the brightest strobe modes, since their strobe modes are voltage-boosted to approximately 300 nits.

Need G-SYNC?
The ASUS PG258Q has NVIDIA native G-SYNC, which gives you one of the better variable refresh refresh modes, good if you prefer stutter-reduction for varying-framerate games and/or emulator latency reductions.

It is true CS:GO won't derive as much benefits, but it's nice to know what other benefits you will use for other games. Also, some pros do use DyAc, it's the most esports-ready motion blur reduction mode since it's lower lag than the other options.
