VG259QM: are the speakers defective or normal?

Post by ProX » 15 Jun 2020, 18:15

Hey guys,
with my VG259QM the speakers are very quiet and the sound is only from the left side. Can someone with the same monitor hear whether the sound comes from left and right or are they only installed on one side?

It has stereo speakers but the sound quality is poor as you would expect with built in speakers. I tested the L/R in windows and my left speaker is louder than my right speaker but i think that is due to the fact that the left side of the monitor is closer to the wall.

The issue I have is that the base is not aligned with the monitor but all in all and I am loving it so far.

Build-in speakers tend to be trash. Even cheap stand alone speakers would usually sound better. I personally can't imagine relying on build-in monitor speakers :D
Main display (TV/PC monitor): LG 55G4 OLED evo 4K 144 Hz (WOLED MLA gen2)

Good tip, I also did the windows sound check and both speakers are not defective, but the sound design makes the sound louder from the left.

Yes i know monitors speaker are crap, they are only used in "emergencies" :)

Was able to improve them maybe 1% better by routing soundblaster control through the monitor speakers using this guide:

Not much of an improvement. Speakers still suck.
