Question... this acer xb3, has the same panel as the Aw2521hf from Dell? Because i have to send my dell back... still ips is not at the level of tn 240... if somebody knows if they use the same panel... then 240 is not really 240 on this ips panels... the best is xf252q... please go on the ufo test and do the picture motion test... and see if they can hold 240 and the images is smooth... on the dell i cannot and the blur is very bad. And in Apex is like the images are dubling and is sooo soo distracting. On my old 144 tn i can see better motion handling. So please check your xb3 on the test.
Sorry for the late reply. What overdrive settings did you use on the Dell?

The GP is 144Hz.

The Acer Predator XB3 line of monitors have pretty good Q/C. So far I've heard of 5 people who had great experience with their monitor. Not a single case yet of anyone having issues.
Unfortunately, I have an issue with my 253Q GX. When I'm on Reddit (dark theme) or any site with a predominantly dark background, vertical lines and ghost(persistent) images appear. It sucks because other than that I'm really enjoying this monitor.

The strobing up to 120hz works with freesync/gsync active at the same time?

After playing with my XB253Q GX more and going between it and my PG279Q, I am starting to feel differently about the input lag. It feels like it has more input lag than the PG279Q. Not sure why, but it feels a bit "floaty". The motion fluidity, of course, feels much better.

I gotten 3x 240hz IPS monitors, 2x Acer XB253GQX's and the Alienware AW2521HF. All 3 had this issue, the Alienware I had to get a different image up to cause it to happen vs the Acer Predator.

I think all the 240hz IPS Monitors have the issue, I can't imagine being so unlucky to get it with 3 of them. Also all 3 have an annoying issue with pixel inversion on a static image which essentially takes up the entire row.

Weirdness thing about the monitor though is you can change between full/limited range in nvidia control panel and it won't change colourwise but that issue you got on reddit dark theme it will probably stop the image retention, or changing the dark boost option in the OSD will stop that issue just for that site and will change what website with the right dark/lights you need to trigger.

Static Pixel Inversion will trigger on this image

Will extended the "/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\" both left and right and even over the OSD. Can faintly see it in this picture.

But all in all the image retention issue is what kills it for me, I'm super worried the 360hz IPS monitors coming later will have the same issue and I think they could firmware update to fix the image retention but doubt it will be a solution we could do at home.

Interesting observations.
Not as bad as I've seen many TN panels do but...

It varies over time -- some early 144Hz specimens of panels like ASUS VG278HE had a nasty amount of inversion artifacts (far worse than this, and more sensitive to inversion-related artifacts) -- so I'd expect engineering will help improve the situation.

It looks like I'll probably have to create some new TestUFOs for some voltage-inversion test patterns -- might help more panel vendors and manufacturers improve LCD inversion algorithms. The old TestUFO inversion test is outdated, and needs to be updated to accomodate common patterns.

Uli, can you test the Lagom Inversion patterns (Lagom Inversion) and let me know which pattern generates the most issues. You can also fill a whole browser window with an inversion pattern (50%-75% screenwidth) and drag it around a solid dark grey background, to check for row-voltage leakage/bleed artifacts too. This trips up many LCDs.

Currently its all boxed up waiting for pick up to return, hopefully another owner will be able to help (I'm still waiting for a pickup date so I might be able to unbox it and help if the pickup date is later in the week). All the 240hz IPS 24.5" using the AU panel should have the issue so hopefully they will be able to help. The pixel inversion was the one I was able to recreate on all 3 240hz IPS monitors I had, image retention issue was just rng in some cases, especially with different limited vs full range and black light boost functions.

Sadly the image retention issue like the other user had was just such a huge "nope, return" factor and trying to get a hold of a XL2546S instead.
