What settings for Asus VG259QM 240hz vs 160~fps

I'm wondering if setting the refresh rate to 280hz and freesync/Gsync to 236 is better than setting the refresh rate to 240 and capping at 236.

Does the scan out period sync with Adaptive Sync if the native refresh rate is set to 280hz?

Yep, I have the same setting with scaling mode and without override. Tried every options, this one the best for me.

As for the monitor settings, I prefer to set one universal variant for job and games and not change it. I tried different options and stick with the nearest to default one:

240hz, 60OD (80 OD should be better regarding to TFTcentral with my fps_max 300 in CS GO, but for better game experience I like more 60, don't agree with TFTcentral about this), V-sync off, ELMB off, GameVisual - Racing, Shadow Boost off(before I played with level 1, but it spoil colors in some cases for me so decided to turn off and default I like more), Brightness 70, Contrast 75, VividPixel 0, color mode - USER(default). May be I will try TFTcentral settings of colors later, but I like current.

VG259QM owners, try Racing Mode RGB to 96-95-100, this is giving me good results in terms of color accuracy.
I'm still looking for an icm profile tho..

FPS mode and RTS mode are good to watch Anime or play games but the color deviation is imo way too much.

I was considering trying SoftMCCS to see if it was possible to increase sharpness in software without using Vividpixel since I want to avoid post processing.

Strobing at 280hz>>>>>Strobing at 240hz, 280hz strobing is basically perfect with very low input lag, however I wouldn't mind OD60 even at 280hz...

I was considering trying SoftMCCS to see if it was possible to increase sharpness in software without using Vividpixel since I want to avoid post processing( nope, sharpness and gamma are hidden)

I was trying to follow this guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl-Ata9ql2A)
I opened CRU, I clicked on the (active) profile and deleted the main detailed resolution, mine was 1920x1080 60hz.
I was trying LCD Reduced 240hz, after setting it and clicking on restart64 in the CRU package it didn't work and CRU automatically set it from LCD reduced to Manual for some reason.
To my surprise both the monitor OSD and W10 are currently saying that the monitor is running at 240hz 10bit and I'm already noticing a good improvement in colors, which is something I wasn't expecting.
It used to automatically revert to 8 bit after I set it to 10 bit in the Amd Radeon Software, I'll try to restart the PC and see if it retains 10 bit colors.

I watched some 10 bit content with MPC-Be+MadVR (I pressed CTRL+J to make sure D3D11 and P010 are 10 bit) and I must say that 10 bit truly turn this monitor colors on Racing mode from a 7/10 to a 9/10.
Racing Mode + 10 bit + icm profile is finally showing the potential of this panel.

Edit 4 Final: 10bit 280hz doesn't work but making a detailed resolution seems snappier idk why.

i use the icm profile from the asus website, looks like it works but i haven't tested the calibration but looks good for me.

Had the 27" for 3 weeks, but returned it: after some hours of usage i had sometime headache, 27 inch was too big for my viewing distance / desk so i had to move my head to see the whole picture/edges. Sometimes monitor started to flicker and i had to restart it for going back to normal.

I use the 25" inch version now since 2 weeks -> no flickerung, sharper image, better to view, and from my personal recognition more aggressive overdrive. I used 40 (up to 200 fps/80 > 200 fps) on my 27 inch indepent from refresh rate.
On my 25" i use 40 below 200 fps and 60 above 200 fps on 240 hz. I only use 80 above 200 fps with 280 hz turned on.

I play better with default settings and use it: 240hz, OD 60, racing mode, normal colors, don't use shadow boost, brightness 70, contrast 60. I believe in stock mode this monitor has lowest input delay and adding other settings it some post processing(it's subjective opinion).

I'm currently testing FPS Mode with 45% Color saturation.
The VG279QM's red, oranges and green oversaturated (I think it makes sense on the VG259QM aswell), Racing Mode is very good for color accuracy (even tho I wish I could turn saturation to something like 53-55 because it looks dull while gaming).

RTS Mode is an oversaturated FPS Mode which is already way too saturated, so now I'm testing FPS Mode with 45% color saturation 80 Contrast and 70 Brightness and it looks similar to Racing Mode but with better colors, give it a try and let me know!

Oh and I'm using RGB 97-95-100 which is the exact same settings used by RTings for color calibration on the AW2521hf which has the exact same panel, it noticeably balances the yellow/oranges.

Global I was before with Asus VG248QE ))), but faceit only 6-7 level, but VG279QM really increased my aim and confidence in game, already 9 level and hope will be 10 soon))) Only don't like this monitor during my job cause texts on 27 and FullHD is not very pleasant sight
