I'm probably going to return mine just to be safe. I just wish Benq was more transparent and let us know why it is being discontinued. Not to mention it's scummy for them to announce that only after it went out of stock.
I definitely sympathize with what XL2546S owners are feeling as I wouldn’t be happy about this either. Like I said before, if it were me I’d cancel or return my order and either buy from another brand or wait to see what they say in September if you must have a Zowie. It’s a tough call because Zowie refuses to give specifics about why they did this and what this new version will have in September.

I don’t see how it could be a supply issue unless they used a non-AUO panel that isn’t being made anymore so they were forced to change their production plans. If that were the case, they should be open about it. Instead I think it was likely market factors and seeing a sales shift that is now favoring IPS gaming monitors. I’m sticking with my theory that they will release an IPS version of this panel soon.

I emailed and then called BenQ support yesterday to cancel my order. I can appreciate the COVID impact, but there just was not enough clarity regarding the circumstances or what the "improvements" will be come Sept for me. I was told over the phone that my order was indeed cancelled.

In spite of that, I received an email tonight 10 minutes after support shuts down for the weekend that my order has shipped. Hopefully the hoops I will have to jump through moving forward will be minimal.

lol you guys are acting like kids, really.
You're return a super fast monitor with dyac, free sync, just because production has stopped until September. It doesn't matter what the September will be. If this is the same panel, the price will be the same. No new 240Hz panel is expected.
if it is ips (very low probability) - ips is slower tn, more blur.
if it is 360Hz (even less likely), the price will be 800-1200 euros.

It's simple, you don't need a fast 240Hz monitor)
360Hz will cost 2 times more.

I have no issue with BenQ choosing discontinuing the S-model. I presume it's a COVID impact, but I don't know. The lack of messaging, and my own personal experience with my "cancelled" order not really being cancelled leaves a bit to be desired.

Truth is, the monitor been so limited in availability that it hasn't been reviewed by anyone I trust. Very likely it behaves just as the base 2546, but without knowing if there was a reliability concern, etc., I prefer to wait for an update or buy a less expensive brand with similar performance. Not going to flip a table over it, but not going to happily and blindly hand over my money either. BenQ just didn't meet expectations this time.

The issue isn't the fact that it's getting discontinued, but rather them leaving on us in the dark as to why it was discontinued. I don't mind it being discontinued as long as the monitor is an upgrade from the xl2546 and meets the advertised upgrade in performance. It being discontinued could mean that perhaps something is faulty? maybe or maybe not. That's the issue, it could be just a shortage in production due to the pandemic. But the thing is we don't know, and that leaves room for speculation and for a consumer to be remorseful of their purchase of a decently expensive monitor.

they have said its due to pandemic issues. whether thats true or not, we will see when they announce the new monitor but for me its still the same quality monitor as TN_fun has stated.
