It does not, apparently, at least with VRR. Should be fine with fixed refresh rate, however. I guess you could set fixed refresh rate at 144 Hz and use ELMB then, if you don't mind dimmed display.
Thanks a lot for the in depth insight!
Would playing with Gsync Off and 240Hz in order to have ELMB be a good alternative?
But then I might as well buy a AW2521HF that has no strobing and perhaps better image quality.
You're welcome, and no, it would not, because frame rates lower than the strobe rate will have multiple-image artifacts. In other words, the bigger difference there is between fps and refresh rate, the worse strobe quality gets. You just get more multiple-image artifacts progressively as that difference increases. You'd be worsening strobe quality if you only had 150 fps at 240 Hz fixed refresh rate.

To solve this, you want to match frame rate with refresh rate, or use overkill frame rates above refresh rate. So, for the best strobe quality, you'd have to set fixed 120/144 Hz refresh rate if you only reach 150 fps. This way you'd match your refresh rate with frame rate, which would result in the best strobe quality. Strobing methods like to have some headroom for their operation, so it's a good idea to use lower refresh rate for the best effect. Fixed 120 Hz strobed on 240 Hz monitor looks much clearer than fixed 120 Hz strobed on 144 Hz monitor.

As far as I know, both of these monitors are pretty good, so ultimately, it's up to you. My advice is to get both and just pick the one you like more. Return policies today are very helpful.

I understand, I did not think you could lower the strobe frequency but not the screen frequency, which is what you’re suggesting if I understand correctly?
I’ve seen that you also have the newest Acer XB253QGX monitor in your signature. Would you mind giving me your opinion on the Acer vs the Asus?

No, that's not what I meant, refresh rate equals to strobe rate, that's it.

I'm not really sure what you're asking for, since Acer does not have any 280 Hz monitor in their offer, as far as I know. I already mentioned I had ASUS TUF VG279QM, so the bigger version of the monitor you were asking for - VG259QM. These two ASUS models are the only 280 Hz as far as I'm concerned.

Seems like I misunderstood, my apologies I have only been looking into monitors for the last few days and am not fully aware of all their specifications.
Sorry I edited my post to make it clearer but I misread your signature I thought you owned the Acer Predator XB253QGX.

It's ok :) I am not familiar with Acer Predator XB253QGX, so can't tell you much about it. There's a thread about this model in which I saw you already posted, so perhaps someone can help you there.

Just an update for you @Faskill, here's a brand-new review of the monitor you asked for. It does not contain measurements, but can give you some idea of what to expect from this model.

Greetings I have seen reviews for these 3 monitors: Asus vg279qm, ViewSonic XG270 and Benq Zowie XL2746s and I'm very torn between the 3. For best motion clarity I think the answer would be the Zowie as it Dyac tech is the best Strobing tech there seems to be out there and that is why I am considering it. However is it really worth it to pay $200 more dollars for it? Anyhow for the two that are IPS monitors (vg279qm and xg270) I have seen that the preferred one is the Asus in some aspects but I have seen others that preferred the ViewSonic as it's upgradable and apparently latest updates let you even use different Strobing flavors so it wouldn't dim your display brightness as much. I play CS GO, Valorant, Halo and Rouge Company mainly ( I do play other less competitive games but not as much). I just want someone that might have tried these 3 or had experiences recently with them so I can maybe make my mind and finally pull the trigger! Thanks and sorry for the long post.
I've come to terms with this as i was in a similar situation. I think as long as you get 240hz with low response time you'll be okay, you can check the XL2746s review of DyAC+ but you still see it has some form of crosstalk. No technology is perfect, TN will have slightly better motion clarity and lower crosstalk (but still have some crosstalk and overshoot) while IPS has better colors but higher overshoot+crosstalk if you use motion blur reduction tech. I think at this level of technology there are so many things to improve on your own, like your aim, pre-aim, movement, situation awareness, etc. etc. before your skill becomes capped by the Hz. I personally got a MAG251RX and am running it with Anti Motion Blur at all times and find it quite usable and don't think I'd do any better with e.g. the XL2746s which has better motion blur tech
What settings do you run with the anti motion blur on your monitor? For me the MAG251RX just loses way too much brightness with the mode

Excellent thread everyone! I read through it all as I'm still shopping for a 240hz monitor.
I'm looking to upgrade from my old XL2411 to a new 24.5-25" 1080p 240hz monitor. I have an XB271HU for my daily driver so this 240hz monitor will be stricly for competitive Rainbow Six Siege and the occasional Rocket League so my primary concerns are responsiveness and motion clarity. Colors and other features are secondary(but appreciated).

My local Micro Center has the VG259QM and AW2521HF in stock, while I've also been able to find the MAG251RX in stock.
Will the ASUS be a good choice even if R6S technically only supports 240hz in the menu? Is it really worth it to spend an extra $50 dollars for the MSI considering I'm using it for gaming only? Thanks in advance!

Fastest response time (set it beforeo eturning on Anti Motion Blur), 50 contrast, usually Strongest Night vision
and yes it loses a lot of brightness, but I play in a darker room and have a monitor arm so I can set the screen closer to my eyes. my previous monitor was pretty dim as well so Im a bit used to it. but for sure you need to get used to it.

In most games you dont even need to turn AMB on, just Fastest will do the job.
