I have flashed my XL2720Z to firmware version 2 with the Do It Yourself tool.
The plan for the tool is at http://forums.blurbusters.com/download/file.php?id=10
The software howto is documented at http://www.blurbusters.com/benq/diy-fir ... -z-series/
As transistor i used two C945 NPN that can be found in any dead power supply.
(datasheet http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet- ... /C945.html)
As resistor i used two 100 Ohm that i found in a dead power supply too.
I didn't have female vga plug so i made just a direct cord from a vga cable and a parallel cable.
As a token of gratitude for the documents i put images of my finished cable.
Note that from the vga i just joined all the groundings together (as indicated in the plan) and took the black (grounding) and the grey and the orange (TX and RX). Hope the colors are standard, else you will have to check the plan (but beware the plan shows backside of the connectors).
The pictures shows the assembly under different point of view :

Nota: As i used transistors from deads power supply i used an antic transistor tester to validate their good condition before assembly.
