The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
Just got my VG259QM, adaptive sync off, elmb sync on, the screen is still so damn bright and I'm able to control the brightness still? didn't know I can do that, I put it to around 40 with elmb and it's so much brighter than my MSI MAG.
Tested some OD 80 and OD 120, and 120 is definitally better though playing fast paced shooters I'm not noticing much issues with OD 80, dark maps I can notice some, not horrible but it's there, sure it's ugly on the ufo test but in game it's not so bad yet from my short testing.

isnt the OD setting locked when the backlight strobing (ELMB) is enabled? thats what every review of 259qm and 279qm says at least ?Stevie66 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 13:41Just got my VG259QM, adaptive sync off, elmb sync on, the screen is still so damn bright and I'm able to control the brightness still? didn't know I can do that, I put it to around 40 with elmb and it's so much brighter than my MSI MAG.

It is locked. Once you enable ELMB, overdrive adjustment is unavailable. I think Stevie meant that he just tested overdrive settings outside of ELMB.alexander1986 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 05:07isnt the OD setting locked when the backlight strobing (ELMB) is enabled? thats what every review of 259qm and 279qm says at least ?Stevie66 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 13:41Just got my VG259QM, adaptive sync off, elmb sync on, the screen is still so damn bright and I'm able to control the brightness still? didn't know I can do that, I put it to around 40 with elmb and it's so much brighter than my MSI MAG.

alright, well it would be nice to hear some feedback on how bad/noticeable the strobing crosstalk is with ELMB on (no elmb-sync just elmb) in games at 240 fps/240 hz or 280 fps/280 hz, like FPS games or sports games like FIFA , would be very appreciated !

Never said I changed the OD with elmb, but the brightness.alexander1986 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 05:07isnt the OD setting locked when the backlight strobing (ELMB) is enabled? thats what every review of 259qm and 279qm says at least ?Stevie66 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 13:41Just got my VG259QM, adaptive sync off, elmb sync on, the screen is still so damn bright and I'm able to control the brightness still? didn't know I can do that, I put it to around 40 with elmb and it's so much brighter than my MSI MAG.

Played some shooters with elmb on at 240hz and it's pretty damn good, I probably prefer it to the MSI MAG but mostly because it's still bright and the MSI MAG got too dark

you don't see any obvious crosstalk at all at either 240 hz or 280 hz with elmb? sounds good if so !Stevie66 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 10:02Never said I changed the OD with elmb, but the brightness.alexander1986 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 05:07isnt the OD setting locked when the backlight strobing (ELMB) is enabled? thats what every review of 259qm and 279qm says at least ?Stevie66 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 13:41Just got my VG259QM, adaptive sync off, elmb sync on, the screen is still so damn bright and I'm able to control the brightness still? didn't know I can do that, I put it to around 40 with elmb and it's so much brighter than my MSI MAG.

Nope don't notice any, but that doesn't mean you won't but if I can notice some corona in gaming at OD80 in some dark scenes I guess my eyes would be able to notice crosstalk with elmb. I see it in the ufo test but not in game unless I stand still and really look for it moving the mouse around I might notice something slight maybe? I do notice it if I'm playing a game where the fps is lower than the target elmb hz though but that's understandable.alexander1986 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 10:18you don't see any obvious crosstalk at all at either 240 hz or 280 hz with elmb? sounds good if so !Stevie66 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 10:02Never said I changed the OD with elmb, but the brightness.alexander1986 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 05:07isnt the OD setting locked when the backlight strobing (ELMB) is enabled? thats what every review of 259qm and 279qm says at least ?Stevie66 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 13:41Just got my VG259QM, adaptive sync off, elmb sync on, the screen is still so damn bright and I'm able to control the brightness still? didn't know I can do that, I put it to around 40 with elmb and it's so much brighter than my MSI MAG.

you dont happen to have FIFA installed or would be willing to download the demo ? or some similar sports game like NHL or so, to see if there is any obvious crosstalk in these sports games? totally understandable if not but hey worth asking
Re: The Official *Asus VG259QM* Owners Thread (+ Secret Overdrive)
Played some PES 2020, slow game so probably harder to notice things instead of fast paced movement games, noticed no crosstalk at 280hz elmb onalexander1986 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2020, 07:51cool ty for the feedback mate !Stevie66 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 10:27Nope don't notice any, but that doesn't mean you won't but if I can notice some corona in gaming at OD80 in some dark scenes I guess my eyes would be able to notice crosstalk with elmb.
