Whereas I don't notice any mouse cursor stutter on my PG259QN at 433Hz but I haven't really examined that in detail. Clearly, it's likely stuttering, just it's harder to notice at these higher frequencies.
Very likely. Also, I think you only have a 1000Hz mouse right?

Which is already a stutter noise margin at 360Hz.

I can't see the frameskipping contribution in already-jittery mouse cursor either at 433Hz if my mouse pollrate is only 1000Hz.

But as soon as I raise the poll rate to at least 2000Hz or more, I now see a difference in my mouse cursor between smooth-cursor 360Hz versus frameskipped-cursor 433 Hz.

Yeah, I have a 1kHz mouse and I wish I was as lucky as you =)

Did I possibly get a bad screen? I see report deltas of 0.5 and 0.7 in youtube reviews while mine is at 1.03...
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hk8dT1 ... p=drivesdk
My report shows the avg Delta E at 0.57 (at their tested settings) but the chart shows a couple spikes above 1.0 (around 1.75 and 1.7 for 9-Red1 and 11-Red3) with measured gamma 2.1.

Although your results are a bit higher overall as the avg indicates I wouldn't say your monitor is defective... just at those testing and DUT settings the cal result is different.

Keep in mind that the end result will look different depending on which monitor settings you use and your "environment", e.g. where you place the measurement sensor and even temperature will affect the results.

I'm guessing you're like me and are not always using the monitor at their tested settings (120Hz, SDR default mode, HDMI port although I don't think that really matters, gamma 2.2, and we don't know their factory room temp either).

So ultimately it's up to you if you want to return it. It's just that technically the monitor is not defective.

Question, which version of NVIDIA driver are you? I upgraded NVIDIA drivers and now seem to be unable to overclock past 360 Hz -- may need to uninstall and reinstall -- but I wanted to check which NVIDIA verison you used.

Thanks!

I want both for sure.
Gotcha, just making sure you weren't considering the 3090 primarily because you want improved minimums, because it won't provide them. In fact, the 8700k is already close to bottlenecking the 3080 in certain games at 1080p, so the 3090 would potentially be an even worse combo in this respect.

I also have an 8700k and am waiting for something significantly better to upgrade, but since I'll mostly be playing at 1440p and 4k (once I can finally get my hands on a 3080; can't find one anywhere), the 8700k will be less of a limiting factor.

Yeah but your monitor seems to have a lot better colors than mine no? Or is it negligible? This one so far has no pixel Errors, just the calibration report that bothers me.

Do you know another place I can talk to 259qn owners to gather information on what their calibration report looks like?

I mean I don't wanna keep the Monitor if I could get potentially a lot better colors because 700 bucks isn't that cheap.

Should I send it back?
Based on the factory pre-cal report? No.

Anything below 3 dE is already considered imperceptible. 1.03 dE average is still excellent, and these numbers will vary from panel to panel, even on the same model. That, and most monitors don't even include a factory calibration report, so you're already getting something most models don't offer.

Going through multiple monitors to get a "better" factory calibration chart is futile, especially if your unit doesn't have any other standout issues.

Also, it's just a report, and said report only applies to "SDR mode / Default Mode." You'd have to use your own meter to verify those results, which would entirely depend on your current monitor picture preset, brightness/contrast level, color temp setting, etc.

E.g. if you're deviating from the default mode in any respect, that report will no longer fully apply anyway.

That's strange. I'm using 456.71 with a 2080 Ti.

For non-professional photo/video/graphics, it's more or less negligible and it also depends on the individual to some degree.
Anything between 1.0 and 2.0 is considered by some to be only perceptible through close observation (probably by someone who knows what to look for or is trying (hard?) to compare colors).

Again, Asus's report only applies to a specific device configuration under specific test settings/environment.

The moment you change any of your monitor settings or run at a different room temperature, you will have different, i.e. could be better or worse, avg Delta E.

I re-forced it via a DisplayID block in the CEA-861 Area of ToastyX CRU. This time 433Hz worked again, I am not sure why NVCP is refusing to add 433Hz. However, upon further testing, it definitely is frameskipping. The jitters don’t show at the usual motion speeds, but coarse stroboscopics show at fast speeds (for 2000Hz pollrate and up).

Although I do not recommend this mode on the PG259QN, it is rather interesting to see a partially-working 433Hz overclock. The 366Hz overclock, however works, although an unnoticeable difference due to the geometric upgrades required for refresh rates. 6Hz upgrade is just about visible at 60Hz (10%) but invisible at 360Hz (2%)
