gtx 750ti stutter in csgo

Post by flood » 07 May 2014, 21:41

So I upgraded from a gtx 460 to a gtx 750ti.

not sure if this is in my head or what, but I feel stuttering every half second or so when moving around in csgo. my fps is mostly capped out at 300, and the stuttering happens regardless of my fps. If i limit my fps to 128, the stuttering is just more pronounced.. almost like it's dropping a frame.

edit:
seems to only happen in my own server...

edit2:
okay i've confirmed it's a problem with csgo. the stuttering is very visible when i set host_timescale to 0.25. And best of all there's only stuttering on terrorist side on my own server.

looking at the frametimes with fraps, it seems that the stutter isn't related to the graphics at all but rather the game logic. apparently I move back a step every 0.25 seconds..........

another observation
I use windows with aero compositing off so that my desktop has no vsync. When I drag a window around, I expect tearing. For some reason, with the 750ti I only see tearing in the bottom half of the screen.

The recent updates for CSGO introduced stutter. Nothing you can do about it. Not sure if this will get fixed. The developers of this game have gone into a mode during the last year or so, where they shut their ears with their hands and shout "all is fine LALALALALALA".

blah that's a bummer. And this is something to keep in mind when testing for input lag in csgo

Now i'm more curious about

using 660ti, 256 fps, rarely drops 10-20, no stutter or anything.

maybe they fixed it already, but for me it was the following that did it:

try walking around in

offline with bots, no bots, terrorist side, dust2

if you don't notice the stuttering, go to console and
sv_cheats 1
host_timescale 0.25.

it's not fps stuttering; it's that the character's position's movement jumps periodically.

anyway csgo isn't completely polished.. just look at the 1235 glitches in viewing demos.

I think cs1.6 would be a better test of input lag, but it's capped to 100fps so that adds a bit of consistent variation in measurements.

1.6 isn't capped. Maybe the default is 100, but you can change it.

It used to be that you could do
developer 1
fps_max 1234
And then the gameplay gets a bit messed up, but it still works fine.

The last time I tried, this didn't work anymore.
