Bought PG259QN-R, the version with reflex. I was curious if Asus took the panels that had didn't come out great and shoved them into the cheaper 800 euro version of the monitor. I kid you not when I say I opened this monitor and it has fucking 0 backlight bleed. It's literally perfect. 0.80 delta e. I tried 3 different PG259QN and they all looked like shit in comparison to this PG259QN-R. Maybe luck, maybe some bullshit. GGs I'm out lmao.
I also came across this
https://www.displayspecifications.com/e ... 8b9f14ad08

The PG259QN uses an AHVA IPS panel and the R version just says IPS. Not sure how correct this is, but it could explain why you see a difference. AHVA from what i've read online are slightly faster at the cost of colour accuracy.

I agree, the 360hz ROG series is supposed to be the top tier and the Tuf is the budget yet my 280hz Tuf feels more premium, plastic on the back feels less hollow, the the 4 buttons don't feel as loose, same with the joystick. Has less features like worse ELMB, no Vividpixel etc. 360hz was nice but I'll have to pass and keep my 280hz, I'll upgrade again once 480hz+ comes out with CPUs that are much powerful in a few years.
bro did you see a lot of difference from 280Hz to 360Hz? Does the 360Hz model have no sharpness adjustment? this is crazy
Yep no sharpness options, seems like it's missing quite a bit of settings compared to the 280hz Asus. As for the difference between 280hz 360hz, clarity might be a little bit better but I'm not sure if I would pass a blind test between both.
it makes no sense not to have sharpness control, I personally like high sharpness would not be satisfied. It really doesn't make any sense to take this instead of the vg259qm for more than twice the price delivering practically the same performance and offering less extras. The alienwere 360hz seems to be a much better option as it has sharpness control and Black Frame Insertion without reducing brightness at 240hz
i also own alienware 360hz, but i can't find the setting for sharpness, where can i find it?

in my aw2512hf is on (screen - Sharpness), same place where the brightness and contrast is

I had a Zowie BenQ 240 HZ and I got the ASUS PG259QN 360 HZ and it is the worst monitor I have ever used, there is literally no color vibrance even though it's 100 on nvidia, when I play CSGO my eyes hurts from how bad the colors are it's literally colorless like grey, I tried playing with settings, searching online but no solution. Anyone can please help me? maybe i'm doing something wrong, if this is the way the monitor supossed to be then i'll keep it by the garbage, i went back to using my zowie because i couldn't bare with the asus even though the desktop is perfect but only in CSGO i have this issue and i dont play any other game.

You clearly got a dud, they come factory calibrated and look pretty damn great, at least the 2 that I owned. So either yours is faulty or you are used to something that's out of the norm in terms of colours/vibrance. I'd try a factory reset, maybe reinstall NCP, try a different cable etc

I'm seeing the input lag on the Asus VG279QM Native Resolution @ 280Hz of 1.7ms, and 1.6ms for this 360Hz. How much lower latency does 360Hz offer over the 280Hz, between these two monitors, and is it worth it? I can pick up either of these monitors right now at my local MC.

There's 0.79ms less total processing lag on PG259QN thanks to its 360 Hz refresh rate (280 Hz scanout: 3.57 ms, 360 Hz scanout: 2.78 ms) when compared to VG259QM.
Has anyone been able to tell the difference between the two? I'm set to try out the VG279QM in the next couple of days. Currently using an HP Omen X 25f

Hey All,

Does anyone with this monitor have any issues when its HDMI is hooked up to a Macbook Pro 15" (tested with my 2015 model and the girlfriends 2019/2020 model built right before they went to 16" pro's. One with Intel and Nvidia gfx, and one with Intel and AMD graphics I believe). When hooking it up to either I get really bad artfacting on images and videos, especially in "G-Sync Esports mode." (ideally don't want to change mode back and forward every day... but is still present in half the other modes i tested too).

The monitor is amazing on Windows via Displayport but I wish to use it for work by day and gaming by night, and work requires the Macbook. It is borderline unusable for some tasks with this issue. Not sure if I got a bad unit or if its a compatibility issue.

I have tried:
Changing the cables
Using the HDMI port directly/and via display port-> HDMI adapter on the laptop.
USB-C->HDMI adapter on the 2019 - 15" Pro as it has no other ports
I also tried another monitor using the same HDMI Port and Cable I tried with the PG259QNR and all was fine for that monitor.
Need to try using a display port cable between the two.. but that is the port I use for the PC and I don't presently have an adapter.. I guess if it was fine using displayport, maybe I could find an external display port switcher, but not the best for such an expensive monitor..

Any help or advice would be much appreciated! :)

Regarding my previous post I made two videos documenting it, and flagged it with Asus and Overclockers UK (who I bought it from) as I may sadly need to return it. A breakdown of my observations is as below in case anyone comes across this post with similar issues, but I do not yet know if this is a defective unit or a compatibility issue with macOS and the P259QN(R).

To be clear initially, everything works fine via Windows 10/Display Port connection on my main gaming rig / PC, however I plan to use this monitor for work by day and gaming by night, which is where the issue has arisen.

For work I use a 2014 MacBook Pro and when connecting it via HDMI to the monitor I get all sorts of green artifacting on the monitor. I do not appear to be able to post videos on YouTube or google drive on here so here is a couple of images showing between the 360hz monitor and an old VW266H:

If anyone wants to see the videos DM me ;)

My MacBook Pro is up to date update wise and is a 2014 Macbook Pro 15" running macOS Big Sur 11.1 with both Intel Iris Pro and Nvidia Geforce 750M graphics. This issue started before I updated the OS, when I was running macOS Mojave, I updated it to discount the OS version out of date being the issue.

I have tried my girlfriends MacBook Pro which is a 2019 Macbook pro 15" with both Intel UHD 630 Graphics and an AMD Radeon pro 560X. This 2019 MacBook Pro can only be tested using a USB-C to HDMI adapter as it only has USB-C Ports, but the issue persisted on this MacBook too.
  • I have tried factory resetting the monitor.
  • I have tried rebooting computers.
  • I tried it with both a direct HDMI connection to the HDMI port on the 2014 MacBook Pro, and via 3 different DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters.
  • I have tried both 60hz and 120hz (the only two choices on macOS, 60hz 1080p is listed as a supported mode by Asus in the manual for HDMI, 120hz is not)
  • I have three monitors, the ASUS ROG PG259QNR, an ASUS VW266H (actually multiple of these) and a HP E243. Both the Asus VW266H and the HP E243 work fine via HDMI from my MacBook Pro (both the HDMI port, and DisplayPort->HDMI port adapters). All screens work with my Windows machine fine. The MacBook also has a built-in screen that displays fine.
  • My Girlfriends Macbook also works fine with the ASUS VW266H and an ASUS VG248QE and in built display but not the PG259QNR, it shows the same artefacting.
  • I have tried unplugging some of the monitors to ensure I am not somehow overloading the MacBook Pro internal display adapters which made no difference.
  • I have tried multiple HDMI cables with the PG259QNR that are verified working with the other monitors.
  • I have tried via DisplayPort to the PG259QNR and the issue is less obvious and pronounced, but still present, this may be because SDR YCbCr sRGB is on by default for display port, hence it not being as bad.
  • I have tried changing the HDMI SDR YCbCr sRGB Gamma on the monitor to on and it is much improved, but still present
  • I was primarily running in "G-Sync Esports" mode under "GameVisual" but other modes also exhibit the issue to a greater or lesser degree.
  • Some of the modes tried may be considered "passable" (but still present) via game visual etc. but I'd be hesitant to have to change mode every morning and evening for work and play on such an expensive monitor, when the other two monitors work fine with my gaming rig and MacBook Pro, and other computers/macbooks.
  • I have tried a Gen 1 Surface Book on Windows 10 via DisplayPort->HDMI Adapter and all appeared fine on all monitors.
  • There does not appear to be any HDR settings to tinker with on macOS for this monitor so I don't think that is an issue

At this point the only thing I can think is it is a fault with the monitor, or more likely a compatibility issue between this monitor and Macbook Pro's/macOS configurations. Since other monitors clearly work fine with my girlfriends and I's Macbook Pro's, I would assume if it is compatibility, it sits more on the Asus side issue wise, as I have also tested many other monitors/TV's and projectors with my MacBook Pro through traveling for work and running conferences, without ever having this issue before.

Once again if any happens to have any tips of advice let me know.

I haven't any 360hz monitor but I'm on VG279QM and for me it's definitely better than XL2540 (1st gen 240hz TN) or XF252QX (2nd gen 240hz TN) by refresh rate and fully no overdrive artifacts @ 280hz and overdrive setting: 80.
