Upgrade suggestions from XL2540 (VALORANT/CSGO)

Post by plshelpme » 04 Apr 2021, 22:54

Hey guys. I am looking to upgrade from an XL2540 to a newer 240+hz panel. I mainly play Valorant at this time (other tac shooters), and I am currently Immortal/D3.

I have always wanted to upgrade to the XL2546 or the XL2546K, but I have always felt like it would be a side-grade since I didn't know if I would like DyAc or not.

As of right now, the monitors that have piqued my interested are:

ASUS VG259QM
BenQ XL2546K

I prefer 24-25 inch panels at 1080p so I am not really open to 27 inches. Can any other Valorant players/competitive FPS players chime in?
Things I value most in a monitor are low input lag as well as motion clarity WITHOUT strobing/blur reduction. Colors are a bonus too. Thanks : )

I am in the same boat as you and got recommended to wait for this monitor to release as this seems very promising!

What other monitors have you been looking at?
Any idea when this Viewsonic will release?

Please love your self and don't upgrade. You really don't need to.

Don't get the XL2546K if you don't want to use Dyac.

The XL2540K, VG258QM, VG259QM and the MAG251RX are cheaper alternatives.

Upgrading to 27", 1440p, IPS, 360Hz or strobing would somewhat make sense. Even if you got the best XL2546K it would feel like you "upgraded" to same monitor. Keep your XL2540.

TN > IPS for FPS , So VG258QM > VG259QM ? Also don't care about DYAC so is xl2540k good?

TN > IPS for FPS
That's increasingly debatable nowadays ever since the 240 Hz IPS panels arrived --

Although it depends on the model, the better 240 Hz IPS are better than the worst 240 Hz TN. There's lots of overlap now.

I'd say dyac is definitely useful in games like csgo/Valorant. But you could also look at the msi mag251rx it's quite often on sale.
