USB ports input lag problems

Post by L1ghtning » 30 Apr 2021, 05:19

I have a really strange issue that I cant seem to figure out. Was having input lag problems for months and tried everything I could to fix the issue. I made some small improvements here and there reading guides, but my mouse movement in game always felt a bit off. The other day I disconnected my webcam from my PC and my mouse felt insanely responsive and I thought I had fixed the issue(input lag came back after plugging in the webcam, didnt even have to be in use). Today I tested something else and unplugged my microphone and my mouse movement felt even more responsive which I didnt think was possible. So my question is, could something be wrong with my USB ports or is it something to do with power or EMI? I have a z490 Godlike, i910900k, 2070 super

all this lags come from power source to psu motherboard and affect all the components. tweaking and doing this windows guides will work for 1 day maximum but the lags will come back and never will be fixed. this is cancer shit dude. find other place or stuck with this lags forever

psu can cause emi over all the parts in ur pc but since hes disconnect the webcam and he felt mouse responsive its something to do with the cable to fix it u need Clip-on Ferrite Filter or even better if u have g pro wireless/superlight with usb-c u can use USB-c to usb-a on fiber like this one https://www.reichelt.com/de/en/fiberx-s ... _pdn&nbc=1 its very expansive but u will never suffer from emi/rfi since fiber immune to emi/rfi

this one https://www.startech.com/en-us/cables/rusb2ac1mb little cheaper but with emi protection (not real fiber) !

Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s electrical problems, these things will happen in places with 0 electrical problems too, taking in and out, replugging keyboard, etc etc, all changes mouse feel, funnily enough I noticed the mic thing the other day too, I had my headphones on and pulled out the mic to eat and noticed my mouse movement felt slightly better, a pc will generally have the best input with the least peripherals attached to it.

jump PCH voltage to 1.1 reboot see if its fixed

Me or OP? Doesn’t do anything for me, these things happen on every pc, no matter where you are.

A common problem with usb port input lag is that windows will put your graphics card and usb on the same IRQ (interrupt request channel) USB are paired in 2 and sometimes 1 or more of these groups are on the same IRQ. This is a known issue.

I forgot how to check but you can just google it.

Another solution to this is to switch your graphics card over to the superior MSI (message signal interrupt, nothing to do with the company named MSI). It gives +5% gpu performance. This has been proven. Some say it improves input lag but there has NEVER been a test done on this. The only reason graphics cards default to IRQ over MSI is that they will not work in a virtual machine if in MSI mode. It's a compatibility decision.
