i noticed that many years ago. i tried to buy cheap external usb sound card but sadly lag still was here. when i turn off my headset + windows volume my pc becomes 30% faster and responsible. no idea how to fix ;d i guess mbo issues.
Glad to hear, that the problem isn't my imagination. Turning off sound truly gives astonishing performance. Maybe there are more guys who faced this and found some interesting solution.
Yep, found this (volume 0 in csgo console for decrease desync, shutters) about a year ago, but it dont fix overall input lag for PC. If you have this issue in csgo, you have it in every game and whole PC still. CSGO or other FPS like Overwatch etc is more sensitive for this, because of this you can see these issues above

If it's true I wouldn't be surprised at all, I've already had a strange feeling related to the sound. (drivers ? device ? windows setting ?). The volume of this game is excessive :o personally in match I am at 0.20

It's not a fix but just an observation. Maybe by changing some settings with the sound somebody can improve his gaming experience. People thinking this is my idea for 100% input lag and desync fix are not the smartest one.

i had some similar beliefs and experience here with sound but i dont think that this the full fix in my case.

but something is true on that all and i performed too in online shooters better without sound than with...i had these and still remember this moments but never find logic answer how that possible and why everything seems to work better without sound.

that is weird and paradox but i clearly somehow could land more shots and hit better while had no sound at all..literally mindfuck. but i not only noticed that hitreg changed but my overall performance and game sense too...i gonna call that "soundless skill sense" xd.

this phenomen needs more research.

btw that could be a great idea for the first shooter game without sound by default. maybe someone develope it...xd
If you are playing with headphones then try to take them off so that you don't hear anything from them and if you play better then it's in your head, placebo, less anxiety or whatever psychological phenomenon.

main problem with csgo is not stutter or input lag but desyncing from server
like enemies prefiring or having inhuman reaction speed or slide shooting also weird spray lag or stutter
sometimes enemies have f-16 fighter pilot reaction but after i download demo to only to see that was pretty normal shot
and i am pretty sure thats have something with csgos audio

Has anyone isolated the audio driver to observe DPC latency? Could that possibly be the issue?
"Isolate" you mean enable MSI on audio drivers? If answer is yes - it doesn't help.
Tbh I believe that this sound desync problem happens because of old audio chip's in mbo's. Maybe I'm wrong, idk.

Thank you all for the amazing responses. I just made this account so I can comment that after buying a ~10E external sound adaptor w USB, my game is running as a hot knife in the butter. There is no stutter/audio stutter when I shoot in FPS games. My mouse movement speed is different as well, feels much more precise. I disabled the HD audio in bios and never turning back again.

Cheers to all. :D
